Learning to cope with anxiety w/o medicine. Help!

I have been on Depression medicine for anxiety for the past two years. Last week I decided to come off of my medicine with the agreement of my counselor and my doctor. I know that I am strong enough to deal with this anxiety on my own. I am wanting some more tools to help me. What do you do to deal with daily anxiety as well as on coming panic attacks?

I've never been on meds but no doubt should have been at some stages. Every1 will find different ways of coping. Panic attacks can be really hard to deal with, for me general anxiety I find I deal with better by keeping busy, watching my fav TV show in bed. Keeping busy can be hard, hard because it's hard to start doing something. Some people like cups of tea. My wife does a decent job of comforting me and re-assuring me. I watch YouTube clips of motivational content. Like at the moment I'm feeling a lot of guilt so I'm watching vids on forgiving yourself and moving on from past screw ups.

@lyssaloo I read your post and I'm so proud of you for taking this giant step. I'll share the things that helped me cope with anxiety and depression. Pin pointing the stress factors in my life and situations that cause stress is very important. Once you narrow that down I'd suggest consciously avoiding those things so you don't get triggered.

Including relaxation exercises in our daily routine such as breathing exercises, meditation and yoga helps tremendously. Changing our eating habits by making healthy choices and drinking a lot of water. Keeping ourselves busy with healthy distractions.

Enlisting the support of family and friends can help reduce the burden that causes stress. It's a daily consciousness of applying the tools we've learned to help us make it through the day.

Try to patient with yourself and take it 1 step at a time and 1 day at a time. Sometimes when you've been on medication and you come off them it can sometimes cause side affects or withdrawals so just be aware of that and keep pressing on!

Good luck and best wishes!
