Lifelong OCD and Anxiety
48 years old. I've battled ocd and anxiety most of my life. Ive taken medication for it for about 15 years and see a shrink twice a year.. Lately it's been coupled with some serious depression as I'm getting used to having an empty nest at home and changes of focus in my life. Just can't seem to find my way back to happiness and a life without constant anxiety and intrusive thoughts. Figured I'd give this a try.
Welcome to these forums. Hope you find comfort knowing that your not alone. Sorry to hear about the long struggle and recent depression. I remember my dad struggling with some depression when I moved out years ago now. It took a little while but he rediscovered a lot of hobbies and made new friends. A lot happened for him. And now I just had my first child and he's a grandpa. Starting yet another new chapter. When I personally had a depressive episode, it took several months but it eventually eased off and I got back to feeling normal. For me when it finally was getting better it felt like it slowly evaporated away day by day.
I hope things get better for you! But I'm wondering, is it the empty nest that causes most of your anxiety and depression?
Sorry to hear about that! And we’ll since I’m not any better I hope every one finds peace
