Looking for positive direction after an anxiety attack
This evening I had an anxiety attack. I have calmed down for now. My mental health and general outlook on life had started improving in the past year (old me never would have thought this possible). Without having a great support system in my life though, I'm finding these road bumps harder and harder to overcome. I stumbled upon and joined 7cups. It (you all) seems welcoming.
Though I do have some coping tools I acquired from therapy in the past to work with, I'm seeking any advice or motivational words to guide my headspace into something more optimistic in the present. Feel free to even just share a story about something positive or interesting that happened to you today as well.
Hello. I just wanted to share what I’ve been going through. For the past month Ive been dealing with anxiety and depression pretty hard. What helps me a lot is going on walks in my neighborhood. I also yesterday saw a psychologist for the 1st time in about 7 years and he shed some light on what’s going on in this head of mine because I think my anti depressants have taken some time off. Sorry I rambled. So I guess what I’m saying is that talking to a psychologist has given me more hope.
@CDK1972 yeah having fewer help from loved ones really makes dealing with anxiety issues difficult sometimes.Anxious thoughts often begin with “What if...” and end with a disastrous outcome..... Sorting our thoughts and looking at the validity of them helped many.

Welcome! It can be difficult dealing with anxiety when you feel like you don't have support. Honestly, when I'm going through an anxiety attack, I just want someone to sit with me. I know they can't "fix it" but just to have someone there makes getting through it so much better. When you have support, you know you can get through it. When you don't, you feel like it's going to last forever.
One thing my therapist stresses to me is growing my social/support circle. It's very small and it needs to get bigger so that there are multiple ways that I can reach out when I need to. And she's right. I need to grow it, and just my friend group in general so that I get busier and then I focus less on my anxieties and more on living life.
I totally agree with getting the support you need. I know 7 cups has helped me a lot just to vent and tell other people my story. I have friends, family who know what it’s like and others who I’ve explained it too. I talk to both and it really helps. I go for walks when I get anxious and if I need to I take Clonazepam.
