My anxiety and depression
Hi everyone, I’ve been really struggling a lot lately, waking up with very strong anxiety and thoughts of why do we all continue to do the same things every day? Work then sleep and then repeat. Why do we do it and what’s the point?. I know we have to work to survive, feed and put a roof over our heads but still my mind is strong in these thoughts all the time and they won’t go away. I’m currently receiving treatment but nothing seems to be getting better.
@We5T I don't have answers for you. But I feel you.
The difference with my situation is that I was thinking of this a lot till I had another depressive relapse and now for past 6wks have been unable to work at all.
I used to drag myself out of the pit by trying to be of service to others and volunteer different places. But I cannot think of it considering I cannot work. And I already do work with a voluntary organisation.
At other times it had helped me to plan a brief getaway to a totally new landscape but this time I don't feel any inclination and feels like too difficult.
I find that people who think less about these existential questions seem to lead easier lives.
I don't think any ssri therapy I'm getting helps me with these continuing existential crisis feelings. But after these nightmare weeks I' decided I will try some bodywork therapy. I ve never tried it but the older I get the more I feel I have to move away from my judging mind and see if I can connect with the body and how it has been holding on to trauma of the past. Not sure if this makes sense to you. But hope you can find ways of taking refuge from the constant chatter.
Take good care of yourself
