I have anxiety and depression and I am moving out on my own without roommates for the first time. I am looking at a studio which is on the small side. I can fit a limited amount of furniture but it is cozy and makes me feel secure because I can see my whole living space. I also viewed a 1 bedroom which is much bigger. I can fit way more furniture and have no problem having more people over. The 1 bedroom is also $77 more a month. My anxious brain feels anxious lol about the one bedroom because I will be closed off in one space (the bedroom) or the other (the living room). I can see myself freaking out or having a hard time especially at night. My family members can't understand why I would want a studio over a 1 bedroom especially when the difference is only $77. Should I go with my gut although its a tiny space or should I woman up and take the 1 bedroom. I know its stupid but HELP!!! lol.

Hey there,

*Hugs*

None of it is stupid. This is going to be your life and entirely your decision to make. Go with what you're comfortable with and what makes you happy :)

Take care and lots of love ❤️

I can't say you what you should do...but I can tell you my experience on this. I live in an efficiency apartment which is much the same. My living area and bedroom are combined. The truth is, people ask why I don't chose to move into a one bedroom when they are available here, since they are the same price.

The reason is because it is more comfortable to me than walls would be. If I had a bedroom I would probably sleep on the couch in the living room because of my anxiety issues. I like being able to see and hear my front door easily as well as being able to see everything around me. I like how cozy it feels and to me it doesn't feel small, although it does to other people.

I have lived here 10 years and honestly I wouldn't trade it. I hope whatever choice you make it is one that makes you feel secure.

Thank you, thats exactly how I feel. Im looking on the bright side and hoping that I cope well in my new space. Although I ended up with the 1 bedroom, my family suggested I take it since they will be over often or so they said, I know this isnt forever. I can move on after a year and choose a Space that truly makes me comfortable. Thank you again.
