Hello everyone my name is Alex. I had panick attacks in my sleep about chest pains I had for about 2 weeks before that. Probably stress built up. Anyways I went to the ER for it and everything checked out ok. I felt kind of relieved but the worry didnt go away and the anxiety got worse. Especially when I would sleep. Prior to this I had a normal life but now I feel like I cant relax. My doctor prescribed me [Edited for medication name - SilentSerenityy] and its been 2 weeks Ive been on them and dont see a change. Still am sceptical If I should give them up. Havent been able to sleep in over a month and if I do I wake up at 2 or 3. Anyone been through similar situations? A good mentor would be very helpful. I am a Christian and have good faith and do believe this will pass. Any support would be very generous. Thanks guys. Its been rough.

Hey! I'm sorry to hear you've been having a rough streak lately. It sounds like you're taking good steps to take care of yourself by meeting with a doctor and trying out some medication. With medications it often takes awhile for them to kick in so don't forget to check back in with your doctor to discuss how things have been going after a couple weeks. Often times when we have a lot of stress going on our sleep get's disrupted because our minds like to go a million miles an hour when we're trying to wind down and go to sleep. You might try creating a bed time routine that helps you relax and let your stress go such as jouranling, prayer, reading, a hot bath, or light stretching.

Best wishes!

Hello

I am sort of new at this. I am having a deep stress about getting into a specific college St Lawrence U in Canton, NY. I am thinking of doing a postgraduate year which in case you don't know is a year at an independent school so you could mature before college and do better athletically to get recruited by a college. Right now I do well in my classes and I am so stressed I now have a 2.4 cumulative gpa but the average gpa for SLU is 3.5 and the way the gpa system runs at my school is so stupid they now added the plus and minus system which is stupid when it was one letter grade with out the pluss and minuses. I normally get A's and B's some C's but it doesn't show on my transcript. I feel that I am not smart less counteractive. On top of that, I am working on getting eagle which is extremely stressful. I just can't get school out of my head I think about it constantly night and day. On top of that my sat score was a 1012 not even remotely close to the score needed fo slu and thats the one place I really want to go and it fits my lifestyle. I know I am stressed and I need to calm down. Any Suggestions?

if it hadn't been for you mentioning the medication you are on and going to a doctor i could swear i wrote all that myself. you have the exact same symptoms as i have been having, especially in the past few days its been really bad, i wake up every couple of hours or so with racing heart and chest pain. i have been to the ER countless times over the course of two years now and everything is always fine. i am having a really hard time sleeping because of this and its really disrupting my life severely. also i am a Christian too, and honestly i think if it weren't for my faith in God this would be even worse. Prayer helps me, although if i am having a full blown panic attack it doesn't get rid of it but i know God is in control even if i dont feel it and as terrible as it may be it always passes and i am ok, i am still struggling though with just trusting God but i am sure i'll get there eventually. i also listen to K-Love, i dont know what your taste in Christian music is but i know that station has helped me so much over the years, its truly a blessing especially in time like these when i have such fear in my mind. well just know you are not alone in this, we're here and God is there for you too.
