New things
Ok, so I just started downloading this to see if it'll work. But um, I just graduated Junior Highschool in a school that I grew up in, I studied in that school since kindergarten all the way to junior high with people I have known since we were toddlers.
Anyway I graduated junior high and now I'm studying at a school I know no one, in an online setting, so adjusting has been quite difficult, but I've been coping well considering all the facts but one thing I always was serious about was my grades even in my school back then, I hate having low scores on tests or being on the brink of failing a subject would stress me out that I either have a breakdown or stop functioning entirely
Recently one of my classes was very difficult for me that I failed two tests (out of 10 I got somewhere between 3 and 4 for both tests), failed a project (out of 10 out of 30), and a possibility of failing the class entirely (the passing grade is 80 and im somewhere in the 70s mark) if I don't do well the remaining quarter, where as the release of the grades are somewhere the end of the month
Another added stress to that is that my parents would always try to remind me tk work hard because their goal is for me to have a scholarship and with my grades now I won't be able to get it
And now I'm either on the brink of anither anxiety attack or going insane because of all of this... I honestly don't know what to do
I'm sure somewhere here on 7Cups I have a post where I answered this a long time ago, but I'm going to say it again.
Grades don't matter.
(Please don't tell your parents I said that!) :)
Yes, they matter in order for you to graduate, but ten years from now the grades you're getting today will mean nothing.
As a parent, I know what grades can do to a kid. I know what grades can do to a parent! (It's not fun, either.)
First, give yourself a break, okay? Don't put so much pressure on yourself. You're trying. And you've reached out here, so that shows you care.
Next, talk to your teachers first to see what help is available. Is there a tutor if you need one? Can you make up some grades? - Some teachers will allow you to review and turn in papers again for some additional credit. A lot of times if you show that you have initiative, they're more willing to help.
Talk to the school counselor, too. Let them know you're struggling with this new school setup and ask them to provide some assistance in some way. That's their job at the school!
Finally, talk with your parents. Let them know that you're feeling this pressure and anxiety to succeed. Let them know that you're having a struggle with your grades and that you want to do better, but you're having a hard time.
