Quite scared

So I just received an email from my school about how they have activities lined up for us, and one of those activities is hosted by a very big camp company in my country.

In my country, in primary and secondary school, it was compulsory to go to these camps. I always hated them, as I have a very bad fear of throwing up and these camps would make it 100x worse.

And I thought I was safe from this camp company as I was at a school that wasn’t government funded. And yet they manage to reach even this place.

Im genuinely really, really scared. I don’t want to go to camp!! It’s not a laziness thing or anything like that, I just genuinely will have a lot of panic attacks!! I’d rather not go through that!!

I have no idea if it’s compulsory or not but I’m hoping so hard that it’s not.

I also want to try and somehow get a letter from my therapist that would excuse me from this camp, in the case that it is compulsory. It would save me a ton of worrying and anxiety attacks. Also, going to the camp wouldn’t help with my fear, it’d only make it worse. I know this through personal experience.

Why oh why can’t I just escape that camp company :( camps here aren’t even fun, we’re forced to do activities that r boring and they give us terrible food. (It’s genuinely terrible. Everyone agrees on this.)

Can you define camp for me? Like is it required by school ? For me , camp sounds fun, like a summer camp environment. But I do understand this “camp” your worried about could mean something completely different. Yes! Ask your therapists for recommendation. A letter or something to get you out of this for your mental well being.

Hi! Thank you so much for your reply!

On my country, camps tend to be anywhere from 3 days 2 nights to 1 week long. We have to do activities that are organised by the camp, and it’s like team bonding activities or something. We can’t do whatever we want as we have to abide to what the camp planned for us.

The food is one of the worst parts. I’m pretty sure people have gotten food poisoning from the food before. It’s pretty bad.

In the past growing up, it was required. U could only get out of it by having some sort of condition.

Now in college, I don’t know if it’s compulsory or not, as this specific camp company I’m worried about brings us to a whole different island and we have to stay there for one week (from what I know. The actual things may they have planned for us may be different) and it sounds like a nightmare to me.

If it does turn out to be compulsory, I really hope my therapist can help me get out of it. I can’t handle it.
