I felt that way through most of my school years. I was mainly a silent observer in classes, always aced the tests, but never did well I'm the classes because of participation. I would blank out when called up, or just freeze. One thing I found to help a while later, was that being in a position to that forces you to do more talking, mine was my first job, if i said something first, rather than waiting. It wasn't as awkward or bad. Still said plenty of dumb things and felt like I made a fool of myself all the time, and still do haha. But i guess what I'm trying to suggest is, if you know the answer, don't wait to be called on? The waiting can make it worse, and a little bit of confidence, even with a wrong answer can help in the long run.
