Symptoms

About a month ago, I had what seemed like a panic attack. I was on a bus, on a way to a friend, when I felt the need to get out. My symptoms were mild chest pressure, troubled breathing and stomach problems. Since then, I have those symptoms whenever I'm about to leave home. I am a student and during pandemic I spend most time home, I have nowhere to go. I think it made me too comfortable staying home. If I decide to go out for a walk, I feel symptoms and it takes hours to prepare for a walk. I usually give up and stay home and as soon as I take off my coat, symptoms are gone. I don't know how to deal with this. I want to have normal life but right now it seems like too much.

You're going to need to take things slowly. Don't start with "I'm going to take a trip an hour away." Start with "I'm going to go outside of my house and sit/walk around the yard for a bit." And then if that's comfortable for you, your next step might be "I'm going to walk a few houses down and back" (if you're in a house) or "I'm going to walk around the apartment complex" (if you're in apartments).

Then you grow your trips to be a bit further out, a bit longer. Go as far as your comfort will allow, and when you feel okay, go a little further.

Yes. Thank you. I agree with you. Baby steps and small goals for start. I set a goal to have 15 min walk around my neighbourhood for start.
