Taking Positive Steps
Hi all
I've been an on/off user for a couple of years, and after a pretty rough weekend, I'm really trying to actively seek help and make 7Cups a part of my daily routine.
I find that being able to write things down rather than vocalising it is a great help for me, so finding this community really feels like a gift. I'm starting off my week strong and feeling like I'm getting back in control of my anxiety.
Do people finding journaling or writing down the good things that have happened in a day helpful? What should I not forget to check out on here?
Any suggestions/ new friends totally welcome!
Hello @animeanxie0302 ~ I am so glad to hear that you seem to be energized and taking active steps in setting up healthy, postive routines in your life to combat anxiety. I have found that having a really good (tested and proven!) self-care routine is essential is regaining that needed functionality back into my daily life. It seems like the 7Cups community is something that has worked for you in the past and presently, so definitely worth adding to your self-care routine :) One thing I did a few months ago was I wrote down every single thing, small and large, that has helped me overcome boughts of intense anxiety in the past (i.e. spending time in nature, journaling, hot bubble bath with candles and spa music, etc.) I would encourage you to also make your own list that you can pull out when anixety gets bad. And then, let's say you put "walking in nature." I then take note of how I feel before the walk and then take note how I feel after the walk, do I feel better? If I feel significantly better than this activity is something I need to incorporate into my daily or weekly life regardless of whether I have anxiety or not. For me personally, have a vigorous exercise or a way to get that tension and energy out is key in preventing anxiety spells. But always remember not to be hard on yourself if you skip a day or fall through on something you planned on doing. Every moment is a clean slate, just keep moving forward. I'm also so glad to hear that you are feeling better and more in control of your anxiety, definitely enjoy this moment & thank you for sharing :)
