What are you accomplishing?
When I go through my "anxiety spells" (or whatever we should call them), I find that if I plan out my day I can get some things accomplished, even if I'm not feeling well. I schedule small tasks throughout the day - at 10am I'll start the laundry. at 11am I'll do a load of dishes. at noon I'll take a trip out and get some fresh air. I schedule time to pray, to meditate, to exercise, to play games.
With my current "spell" that has been going on for a week, I have made sure that at the end of the day, I'm making plans for tomorrow. And when I wake up in the morning I think of a positive thing that happened yesterday and will happen today - even if it's a simple or silly thing like "my favorite TV show is on tonight."
I felt terrible last week, but my schedule and getting even little things accomplished are slowly easing my anxiety and even though it's going slow, I hope that in a week or two I'm out the other side and feeling normal again.
What are you doing for yourself this week to ease your anxiety? What small accomplishments have you had that make you feel better?
@thoughtfulmomma My friend, one of my Dr's explained it to me. The anxiety. He said people like us were once a valued part of society. In distant times we were the ones that warned about danger, because we are always alert and on edge. We are the ones watching for what's coming over the hill next to attack. Dangerous animal, the Huns, the Vikings, etc. But today, those genetic traits are almost not needed, but our DNA gave us that gift. The hard part is that it is hardwired into us and in the 21st century we have a hard time adjusting to it. It's like asking a cat not to meow. It is who we are, and I struggle everyday to find my place in the 21st century, a world where those ancient dangers aren't around every corner. This advice has given me some peace. Perhaps as a mother, anxiety over your son has been part of that hardwiring? You are an amazingly compassionate person. I find that our people with our special gift all lean towards that compassion. I hope this makes sense. I wish you a peaceful day. Love and light!
