taunts about being too tall.

I am 18-year-old girl and almost 5'8''...and there is this guy, who is shorter than me (almost 5'4") and he is always going on about my height and how I will never find a boyfriend, and how I should 'reduce' my height (how should that come about, pray sir?) and other silly stuff which I grew up listening. What's bothering me is that I never spoke up against him or made a nasty comment about his own height. I only ignored and made fun-spirited banters...and now that I think back, I should have smashed the guy then and there with words, because I am tired of being a stupid doormat. I am too dumb, I believe. And usually my anger just bursts inwards, and I end up hating myself for not doing the right thing. And I can't stop rewinding back to that moment. Suddenly, all others moments of my social ineptness and examples of me being trampled on by girls and guys alike...it just makes me so sad, as to why stuff must always happen to me, and why must I be so passive, why don't sharp remarks come to me as a default reply. Believe me, I have been through worse problems, it's not the only one, but this certain problem is so immature, I don't want to talk about it to a listener or therapist. But it's bothering me the same.

@turquoiseClementine5777 you are not dumb, and it isn't an immature problem Clementine. Please don't hate yourself for being nice that you don't give snarky remarks back at them before. Look why they make fun out of your height. it's not because your not like them but because you have something more than them. That guy, he probably wants to be taller too but since you got that plus that he didn't get. Well it made him envious.
Now always remember that you are not the one at fault in this. If you want to stand up for yourself, they'd better be scared.

I'm just saying, when a nice girl fights back, well it's different.

@turquoiseClementine5777 I am almost in the same position as you are. I am 16 and 5'8'' too and get almost every remark in the book. (Yes, the weather here is fine. And no, I won't bump into a plane). I can never think of anything to say at that very moment, but when I get back home it's like 'oh, I should've said this!' I just kinda shrug and almost fade in the background.

But I don't think that you should hate yourself for being passive. I mean, I don't. If anything, it's a plus that you can keep your head around dorks like this who have nothing better to do with their lives. Mostly it's just the shorter guys who tease me but I rarely ever respond. C'mon now, grow up (literally)!

Sounds like he is jealous and wishes he was tall, typical of youthful males. Take it in stride, beauty comes from within, and you sound like a beautiful person.
