Anxiety from posting things online

Normally I stay away from any interactions with people online, I will only lurk on places like reddit or YouTube. Last night I ended up leaving a few comments and I instantly had a huge surge of anxiety from it and couldn't fall asleep until morning because if it. I feel like the only person that goes through this. If I keep forcing myself to post things will it get better? Right now it feels like it wasn't worth it as I'm feeling the physical and mental aftermath. I feel silly for being so effected by this.

dude that's literally me. like i think that after i post something, i think about how it will stay there forever and how maybe someone will dig it up after x number of years and do something bad with it. i totally get you. people can also be insensible and turn sarcastic and offensive because of the mildest jokes.

now not to further your anxiety, keep in mind that as long as you hold by your basic internet etiquette, everything should be fine. people often misinterpret things online, or just use their freedom to be mean for no reason. but you can also view it this way: you might make someone laugh with a funny comment, or genuinely make their day better, or in certain circumstances even make friends.

so in short what i think when i get this form of anxiety: yes there's always the chance that someone will be inappropriate to me online, but considering how many great experiences i've had posting stuff, meeting amazing people irl, (even when i said something stupid, i would learn from it), i think that it's worth it to do so.

i don't recommend forcing yourself to the point where you can't sleep though. maybe start small and slow, with one comment at a time.

i wish you a good time on this site, it literally saved my life.

Thanks, your reply helped a lot. :) I over think everything so it's hard for me to look at things reasonably sometimes. You're right about all the good things that can come of it as well. I think I'll just avoid posting things late at night for now so I don't end up worrying before bed.

@WolvesAreShy i actually used to experience this , until i said f*ck it. whats the most that can happen? i'll get cancelled or something and if it still bothers me i'll just delete it. and honestly most people don't care what you comment, its just a mass load of different opinions all at once, who is going to read through all of them? recently i've been dragged through some mud for commenting about something i believe in, there were a bunch of hate comments and some videos i was tagged in , but i brought them all down , because i had sufficient knowledge in what i was saying. but i've also gotten in trouble a bunch of times and they've all made me feel exhilarated but a little anxious. and the key is just to delete if it really bothers you. its always good to step out of your comfort zone , but its also good to listen to your body.

Hi

I get worried to post on forums I usually don't, even when I want to reply or reach out,

I'm kind of phobic about it. The post It's there forever..... I know it's absolutely illogical, coz like so what, for some reason I feel claustrophobic about it, not sure why.

Today I decided to try do just this and posted a few messages on some forums. Still not sure how I feel about it... Mayb I'm just testing it out.......
