How to cope
I have a huge thing about mouth sounds. Listening to people chewing, slurping, etc. all drives me up a wall. It's so bad that even my boyfriend's dog irritates me. She is constantly licking and the sounds she makes with her mouth are so hard for me to try to block out. Does anyone have any tips on how I can get along better with this?

for such a late reply.
I'm sorry to hear about the way noises have been making you feel.
How has things been since then? Has you found a way to cope with this/has it improved?

@pandora10
@pandora10 I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling with this. I see this is an older post so have you found a way to cope with this in the meantime? If not have you thought about using sound reducing headphones? Or perhaps listening to music whenever you feel like this. Feel free to let me know how things are working out for you!
@NigelS Thanks for posting. A lot has happened in the past year. I've learned a lot to myself, especially after talking with therapists. I've learned that I'm not really a dog person, even though I have loved them my entire life. After things became very very difficult in living with a dog, my SO and I came to the conclusion to move the dog outside. She has a fence and can come and go as she pleases from the garage to the outside. This has helped SO MUCH! I feel like I can breathe again. Not having her constant presence is very freeing. It may sound horrible, but I was drowning trying to deal with a dog in the house. It has presented other issues, though, with her being outside. But I am trying my best to deal. In an ideal situation, I would feel the best alternative would be to find the dog a new home. One where ALL parties want her there and can give her the time she needs. But my SO is so attached and doesn't want to do that. So I'm here just trying my best...
