So i used to be really nervous to leave the house on my own because id have to walk past people and be near people however recently thats gotten better since i got a dog and ive started to walk her. But i still cant walk on my own without my dog or go into shops on my own despite it not being far from my house or i eend up having a panic attack, i also dont do well meeting new people who i dont know as i start to get extremely shaky and i get small panic attacks too. I dont know wether this is social anxiety or something else as ive not been diagnosed with anything. Does this sound like it is?

I used to have serious panic attacks 2-3 years ago when I would leave the house, causing physical symptoms reminiscent of hypoglycemia or hyperthyroidism (feeling very lightheaded like I'm about to faint, vertigo, rapid heart rate, shaking, sweating, sudden feelings of intense anxiety like sometihing terrible will happen, confusion). This would happen after periods of prolonged work or emotional stress and also during certain times of the month.

I began going to the doctors here where I work and was checked out to make sure it wasn't anything serious (e.g. MS, inner ear disorders, brain hemorrhage, diabetes) or that it could be my thyroid because I have a family history of hyperthyroidism on both sides of the family, including my late mother. All of that had been ruled out, so I began seeing a therapist and started taking an SSRI, which has pretty much nipped the dizzying panic attacks in the bud. smiley Sometimes, that still tries to come back on me if I'm going through a hard and stressful time during the wrong time of month (like this week) but it's not nearly as bad as it had been back then. I had a little off-balance feeling this morning walking to the bus stop and going to church but I didn't feel like I was going to pass out or feel intensely panicked. smiley
