Presentations
I'm not a shy person typically, i dont have a hard time making friends and while I'd usually rather stay home i do enjoy the occasional party or gathering. When it comes to school/class presentations, though, its a differnet story. When i am expected to tlak in front of the class even if its answering a simple question i know the answer to, it feels lie my heart is being tightly squeezed, i start shaking and i forget how to talk and breathe. I often start crying and i cant control it. If i do end up calm myself down enough to stand up and not hysterically cry my voice is so low its hard to hear me. Im not sure what to do or what this is. If you and any idea what this could be, I have often been told stagefright, social anxiety or just shyness, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
It sounds to me like stagefright and it is totally normal and natural. Everyone has experienced it at some point in their lives, even the most extroverted of people, so don't worry about anyone judging you for it because they most certainly have felt the same way as you. I think the important thing is to figure out why you feel this way, though, and work from there. Are you scared that you might give a wrong answer and people will judge you? Or does the thought of everyone looking at you make you nervous? And if so, what is it about having their attention that makes you nervous? If you can figure out the underlying feelings and get to the root of the issue, I feel like it's much easier to understand your anxiety and find ways to combat it.
