Self-Doubt

Over the summer and since I’ve been back in college I can’t stop doubting myself, my worth, my abilities, and whether I’ll ever be able to live the kind of life I want. I have been having bad anxiety around my roommates (intense muscle tension, difficulty breathing, and unable to concentrate) and when I go out onto campus alone. I’m constantly worrying that this feeling will always come up in these situations and that I’ll never be free from this anxiety. I don’t want to be so self-conscious and have all my social interactions be tainted by worry and self-critical thoughts. I also keep feeling like I’m not funny or smart or interesting enough, and keep finding evidence for it (even though I know it’s easy when you’re looking). I just want to focus on things I actually care about like my friends/family, hobbies, and classes. I don’t know if I’m putting too much pressure on myself but I just can’t concentrate and feel like I’m incompetent in so many areas of my life. I just want to feel secure in myself and know that although I obviously won’t be perfect, I am still a worthwhile person and I can be happy with the things I do have going for me. But I’m finding that difficult at the moment.

Can anyone relate/has anyone had a similar experience? If so, did you find anything that helped you let go of these worries and self-doubt?

Yes I can relate with this, being an introvert and discouraged a lot due to my shyness I havef social anxiety in past which lead to the approach of self-doubt and self-discouragement to a great extent that my whole daily routine was disturbed and I started to feel that it's becoming dangerous. Thankfully I realized very quickly that the only person who can help me cope up with situation is my own self, so I started to think about encouraging and putting conscious effort through positive self-talk everyday I was able to realize my inner strengths and the courage to look for internal validation. It took me a lot of time to realize and use my strengths but the hard work paid off and I was able to break the cage of external pressure and started to think by using the potential of my own brain.
