I’ve always been very shy but it have gotten worse over the last couple years and I don’t know how to tell anyone. I feel like they wouldn’t take me serious or think that I’m overreacting or looking for attention and I’m just scared of how they’ll think of me. I’m desperate for some kind of help but I can’t ask for it and Its really affecting my life and relationships.

hi I'm not an expert but ill try to give an advice based on my personal experience. i recently found out that there are some online sharing/listening groups which are anonymous (you can decide if you wanna talk or just listen, if you want others to see you or not and so on...). if you have struggles with talking about it with people around you because you're scared of being judged, this could be a good start and eventually you'll find the courage to open up a little bit, step by step. this may help you because people tend to be less ashamed of sharing problems with close ones (fam or friends) once they've realized that they're not alone. i always thought that therapists or family were the first step to make a change and felt so bad when i couldn't make it (im scared of being misunderstood too) but now I've realized that for people with social anxiety talking face to face to others is like the 50th step, that's why we find it hard. you did your first step by sharing your fear here and trust me this is a lot and you should be proud of yourself. if you want to talk to them but you're too scared of being judged or not being understood just remember that first of all there's nothing wrong with you! you're 110% valid and loved! but also you could try to educate them on your situation. many people judge or think you're overreacting only because they genuinely don't know what you're talking about, so try to explain to them and you'll see that they'll support you! i hope this could be just a bit helpful for you and that you'll overcome your fears and live a wonderful happy life!
