Social anxiety, studies and panic attacks
I am so glad that I found this forum! Although I had a lot of trouble registering, honestly. Maybe because I feel so upset with me. The point is that the semester end is coming very soon and I feel like a shipwreck. I didn't prepare the papers required by the university because this month I could not make myself to come to the university because of my anxiety issues. The thing is that I have fear of escalators that gives me panic attacks. And in the university the floors are connected with escalators. They are short but still! I can't enter them without feeling this fear. This month my pregnancy was also confirmed so maybe this only complicated things, but I don't know what I can do. It feels like dropping out becasue I will be looking like the worst in the group....
Hey, @blueRaspberries8753! First, congratulations on your studies. It sounds like you've really been pushing yourself, and you should be proud of that. If you aren't the best in your group, so what? :P
All you can do is the best you can, but I know that sometimes it doesn't seem like enough. Please be nice to yourself as the semester closes, and you can always message me if you want to talk!
Second, do your professors understand about your anxiety?
@blueRaspberries8753 Please don't worry, you are not alone. Very good advice @ZeppelinsOverhead gave you! I agree, you should not be pushing yourself that much, nobody is perfect! Since your anxiety is already threatening your appearing in the university I think you should consult a psychotherapist, yes this is important. You have escalator issues, I used to have fear of flying. So the doctor helped me. Since you already missed your assignments, here you can get professional research paper help, at least for this time. What I also discovered for myself, is ASMR. Those videos seem to be great to help. And let us know how its going ok?
Good morning @ZeppelinsOverhead, @scarletSea4644 and others who read this post. Thank you so much indeed for your quick reply. I feel so good that I came to this forum and met you here. What a great advice you gave me. Yes, I am really may be a little super controlling person thus overly responsible and push myself yet. Unfortunately the professor doesn't care about my anxiety as they think that if I am studying in a non-specialized type of institution common rules should apply. Otherwise everybody will only be bringing their problems to the classroom and no studies will happen. In a way he is right. ScarletSea I will follow all your advice especially paper and asmr. In summer I plan to start seeing a consultant and start the new academic year in a better condition. And my special thanks to you @ZeppelinsOverhead! I was feeling so lonely when I wrote this. And it is definitely you who made me believe all will be well.
@blueRaspberries8753 Glad to be of help. Good luck, and please do keep us updated!

Hey there, hopefully you are doing well. There's a few things I would like to point out;
I am so glad that I found this forum! Although I had a lot of trouble registering, honestly. Maybe because I feel so upset with me. The point is that the semester end is coming very soon and I feel like a shipwreck. I didn't prepare the papers required by the university because this month I could not make myself to come to the university because of my anxiety issues. (Sorry to hear you are expricing something like this. I can tell you felt this fear, and then became frozen in, it must had been very overwhelming for you.) The thing is that I have fear of escalators that gives me panic attacks. (Did you experienced something traumatic with escalators?) And in the university the floors are connected with escalators. They are short but still! I can't enter them without feeling this fear. (They might be short, but it doesn't make how you feel any less. This fear tends to show up often, i could see why it can be quite a struggle for you to do certain things during the university.) This month my pregnancy was also confirmed so maybe this only complicated things, but I don't know what I can do. It feels like dropping out becasue I will be looking like the worst in the group....(I think we all have our own fears, doubts and insecurities however it doesn't make us any less than the others. I can tell you are brave because you are doing the best you can to face your fears, but dropping out its not a good decision after all the hard work you have put in. The fears you have do need to be adressed, but it doesn't make you the worst in the group)
@freshLight64 Thank you so so much for replying my comment <3. It means a lot to me to know I am alone in all this. I was feeling really bad because of so many things falling on me all at once. I keep reading your comment and it maks me feel better. Somehow I feel more motivated to start coping with my issues even earlier. Yes, the fear of escalators started after my trip to Europe last year, I was riding a very long and narrow subway escalator and it suddently halted. So I had some fear at that ttime but it started to progress so now I have issues with any of them, even if they are short ones in malls or the uni.
@blueRaspberries8753
You are welcome, I'm glad you are starting to feel better
Yes, the fear of escalators started after my trip to Europe last year, I was riding a very long and narrow subway escalator and it suddently halted. (I Understand, you must had feel very scared and anxious of staying stuck in the subway escalator. I know it can be tough, specially when this fear tend to take over thoughts and actions) So I had some fear at that ttime but it started to progress so now (It's normal the fear you feel, its like being worried that it might happen again and then fear of feeling this powerlesness if it gets stuck, but I gurantee you that everything will definetly be okay) I have issues with any of them, even if they are short ones in malls or the uni. (I would have felt worried if i was in your shoes as well, but what if you were to see this fear as a way to grow as a person? as an adventure where overcoming this fear will grant you relief and a peace of state of mind?. Sometimes we are so hard on ourselves, and then our fears tend to intensify)
