How to breach the subject?

So I am pretty sure I have autism. A friend of mine thought so as well. I also realized that my panic attacks are not panic attacks, they are overstimulation. I meet with my psych team once a week. How do I breach this subject with them?

I think you should just tell them straight which symptoms your are having that match with autistic traits, and don't let them brush anything you say aside, make it clear how much it's affecting you.

It might be something else but if you have read up on autism and you match a lot of the criteria it's definitely possible. If you're female, our traits for autism are also more subtle so it's possible you've been misdiagnosed.

@TheMadHatterWasHereIt’s great that you’re reflecting on your experiences and noticing things like overstimulation instead of panic attacks. When you meet with your psych team, you can bring it up directly by saying something like, “I’ve been thinking a lot about my symptoms, and I believe I might be on the autism spectrum. I’ve noticed that what I thought were panic attacks might actually be overstimulation. Can we explore this possibility together?” Being open and honest helps them understand what you’re experiencing and can guide them in supporting you better. If you want, I can help you draft what to say or how to approach the conversation.

Turns out I am indeed Autistic. Learning that at 28 years old is... groundbreaking and devastating in equal measures.
