Autism and writing
Hi everyone,
Im in a critical thinking class and we do write. Has anyone had issues with writing? Like you know what your brain knows (topic and knowledge) but you can't find a way to write it down. I sometimes feels like in a linguistic is like a skill is almost something I have to learn but don't know how.

I do think it's a skill that with time and practice can improve.

YES! Oh my god. This was such a huge problem in school. I would write my thoughts down, and follow instructions, and somehow someway im always doing it wrong. And we just couldn't communicate what they actually wanted from me cause other kids just got the assignment and they could only assume I'm just being a silly goose for no reason.
I remember we would write essays for books, and the teacher would give us a format of "Answer the question, provide evidence, write a conclusion." And if do it and she kept giving me an F because "I'm just summarizing the story." I guess she didn't actually wanted it the way she instructed and I was supposed to do something else? I don't know. I went to every person in school to figure out what I'm doing wrong and nobody knew what else to tell me but "just do what the teacher asked you to do," and it was SO frustrating.
What I wish I would have done was ask the teacher how she would have written my paragraphs if she were me so I could mimik it maybe. I doubt they would, but it'd be worth a try asking.
