Always the odd-woman out
Hi,
like the rest of you in here, I am autistic and often have felt like the odd woman out, the outsider etc. People often tell me to get involved in more things but when I do, I tend to meet people and we get along. However, another person comes in and then I get shut out because I am the "Weirdo" or rather I do things that bother others that others normally do get. For example, I have the tendency to correct the behavior of someone else's children and have even stated if the child is mouthy. After that, these same people seem to find ways to isolate me and I am usually left out of a lot of events like parties, movies etc.
"It takes a village to raise a child", I would agree that more people should be involved in kids behaviour, some are just unbearable and the parents should take it more to heart what they might need to work on with their kid.
I was the same, the weirdo left out, it even went so far that when I sat at the same table and spoke to the person beside me, they blatantly ignored me! I ended up not giving a damn about making friends or meeting new people, I just did whatever -I- wanted to do, and thats when people came to me and wanted to make acquainted, now I wasn't a weirdo anymore but instead an interesting quirky person I guess.
But when I'm out in shoppingmalls or so, geehs people look at me, but honestly I don't care anymore, I live my life for me, I don't even find the way I dress to be strange, but guess people are so tame they don't even dare to use red lipstick and a chocker around here, or is it my golden glasses? My otherwise normal clothes? Long hair? No idea but I can't be bothered.
You will find a few people in life and thats enough.
