Anyone Else Feel Like A Failure For Not Doing "Enough?"

On top of having autism, I also have anxiety, depression, and OCD. Last year, I started therapy and went on antidepressants, all while managing a full-time summer job in customer service + doing two online classes to reduce my course load for the next year. My fall semester of school was fine, for the most part, but this winter semester... something happened. The antidepressants stopped working and everything became much harder.

I recently found out I'm experiencing classical burnout as well as the autistic variant of burnout. I am experiencing the prospect of becoming a part-time student, as well as not working during the summer. I could possibly go back to my old job, but I also have a work requirement to graduate and the job is not related to my field.

it worries me that I will be stagnant and not do much, and that everything will get worse. Realistically, I know this is less likely, and it could be better for me if I don't burn myself out further with the customer service environment and stressing about a heavy course load.

What I'm asking is has anyone else felt this way, and how have you coped with these feelings?

TL;DR Worked very hard, experiencing burnout, concerned about future because I don't want to burn myself out more.

After reading your post, it's obvious you have a lot on your plate.

I mean that, seriously,..... "you have a lot on your plate", so I think it's pretty normal you're gonna feel overwhelmed and burnt out.

To answer your question, YES, I have felt that way in the past, AND often times I feel it currently, but I'm hoping to get more organized so I feel it a little bit less in the future.

What I decided to do, and this has been working for me but may not work for someone else.

I picked out ONE REPETITVE essential thing that needed to be done every day. I made sure I did that one thing and then of course, the day went back to its normal crazy overwhelming stuff. BUT THAT ONE THING WAS DONE and then the next day, I did that same one repetitive essential thing again & again & again every day.

So it didn't really fix anything immediately but eventually, that one repetitive thing just got a lot easier to do and then I added another repetitive essential thing to do, to add to my day. Then my same crazy overwhelmed day went about its business & out of my ability, but I started feeling better about at least getting something done repetitively every day.

I think that technique saved me and I continue to improve on it. It doesn't fix the *** but it does make me feel better about myself most of the time. Sometimes there's nothing at all in the world I can do about depression. I let it win sometimes but try to push through it and still try to stick to my simple plan.

I hope that was not too much of a mouthful but you asked, and I really hope it might be a little bit helpful. Because you're not alone feeling cornered and frustrated about not doing enough!
