Autism is disabling and ruined my life
I begged and begged my mom to let me go to a public school because of how lonely i felt being in online school. And she eventually agreed. At first it was going good, my friends showed me around the school. But it hasn’t even been a month and i had two meltdowns. I wanted to prove to my mom and to myself that i can function in the world, only to start a process to go back online. I won’t be able to go to homecoming or prom, I won’t have a highschool romance, I won’t have any memories of highschool because i will be online. I hate being different, i hate that i can’t function like my peers, i hate how much autism affects me. I won’t be able to see my friends often. I’ll just be at home. It’s not fair
Hii, please don’t give up. You know actually you are doing amazing being able to attend school and you deserve more credit for attending school. It sounds like you have a strong will to attend school. Meltdowns are hard but I really hope your mom and your peers would admire your resilience for attending school. I suggest advocating for your continuation of attending public school.
@ilyroseybloomI’m really sorry you’re feeling this way. It’s incredibly tough to want to experience things like your peers but find it so hard because of how autism affects you. Your feelings of frustration, sadness, and loss are completely valid. Remember, your worth isn’t defined by these experiences or how you compare to others. Choosing what’s best for your mental and emotional health—like going back to online school—is a strong and brave decision, not a failure. You can still create meaningful connections and memories in ways that work for you, even if they look different from what you imagined. You’re not alone in feeling this, and it’s okay to grieve what you hoped for while also being kind to yourself.
