I need a break. I hate masking. I hate having to explain myself or put up with things that tire me out so quickly. I hate being terrified of losing friends cuz of my Autism evem tho ive literally been diagnosed with it. I also hate when ppl r like “don’t use autism as an excuse” LIKE BRO IM NOT USING IT AS AN EXCUSE! IT LITERALLY AFFECTS MY LIFE AND CAUSES ME SO MANY CHALLENEGS AND TRAUMA FROM SOCIAL LIFE AND ALSO JUST DAY TO DAY INTERACTIONS AND IM JUST TRYNA EXPLAIN WHY I DO THINGS THE WAY I DO! GIVE ME A BREAK! I don’t believe my Autism is a disability but sometimes it sure as *** feels like it is. Ive had like 2 or more ppl send me full on paragraphs abt why they don’t like my autostic traits (they didn’t say those exact words but more so just named or described my autostic traits amd say that they hate it). Isnt life just so fricken fun (sarcasm btw) 🙄🙄🙄🙄

😔

I can't understand why people would feel the need to send you paragraphs , that's uncalled for.

I'm sorry you are do exhausted and people don't take more time to listen and less to judge 💛

Hey~ This does sound frustrating, trying to express yourself to an audience that just doesn't get it. People come in all shapes and sizes, some are better at listening and working on gaining understanding than others. I hope your wonderful autistic self will find space where you will be honored, supported, respected, appreciated and loved.

Hi Panda,

Oooof I really felt what you said 💜 I hope the days since you posted have been easier on you?

It's still very hard for me to accept that some people just won't understand autism or rather they won't try to understand my autism. I've been slowly trying to curate my life so I'm surrounded by people who love and accept all parts of me. Peeling back the mask a little at a time when I feel safe is still terrifying. I would like to offer some hope - I have found sometimes when I do unmask a little, I have connected with someone else on the things I usually try and hide. It doesn't always go that way of course and I've found putting myself in situations where neurodivergent people are more likely to be can help e.g. at AuDHD groups, LGBTQ groups, Board game and Magic the Gathering etc

I hope you can build a supportive and understanding network around you - we all deserve to feel heard, cared for and accepted.
