Is this normal?
I was cleaning today and found a box in my closet. Inside were several friendship necklaces each one from someone who was a “best friend” at one point in my life. There are about five of them, and every one of those friendships ended in being hurt, abandoned, or betrayed.
I know autism can make forming and maintaining friendships difficult, but this feels different than just drifting apart. These were relationships where I was deeply attached and things ended in ways that were actively painful.
I’m wondering if other autistic people have experienced something similar, or if this is something others recognize.

I'm sorry this happened to you and the friendships ended badly.
Never let anyone make you feel less.
Or that your autism is a problem.
You are worthy of friendships and you have as much worth and value as anyone else, and it's their loss, if they cannot see it 💚

I don't collect friendship bracelets or anything but I can relate to you alot.
I've had people betray me in hurtful ways, but it feels like I'm the weirdo for caring as much as I do.
It's tougher for us, but we get through it eventually ❤️
