To me, this is the most harmful stigma I hear, and I listen to it all the time.

🥺

I'm sorry you have to listen to people's ignorance.

Or comparing people with autism, when no two people are the same , or saying, they are making it up, or they are lacking in some way.

That's not true.

You are perfectly wonderful as you are, and everything you have to offer is unique and you are capable of more than you know 💜💕

It is very harmful because I think it reduces our disorder to a quirky personality trait and that’s not what it’s like at all.

If everyone is a little autistic, then that means society can stop harming neurodivergent communities, right? ....Right?!

In seriousness, people need to stop saying "everyone's a little autistic."

@likeatattooThe phrase "Everyone is a little autistic" can feel very invalidating, especially for those who experience autism deeply and uniquely. It can minimize the real challenges and differences autistic people face. Autism is a distinct neurodevelopmental condition, not just a collection of quirks everyone has. It's important to honor and respect those differences rather than blur them. Your feelings about this stigma are completely understandable. If you'd like, I can help you find ways to explain this perspective to others or find supportive communities where your experience is truly recognized.

I wonder how someone would respond if I asked them "what is the autistic bit?"

@likeatattoo Many are unaware how their words can come off especially to individuals with disorders. This statement is very dismissive of Autism and it’s spectrum a whole. As someone who works closely with individuals with ASD, at the end of the day you are a person first. You are unique in your own way and don’t let any stigma or stereotypes define YOU! ❤️❤️
