Confused about Lamotrigine? Worried too
Hello I was going to post this yesterday but I didn’t know how to explain how I feel. Ever since I started lamotrigine in November and have worked my way up to 200mg a day I have seen a drastic improvement in my moods to the point they are very subtle, is this what is supposed to happen? Is it normal? I think because it’s taken years to get a diagnosis of something I sort of don’t know how to feel anymore, I’ve been so used to being either depressed/suicidal thoughts/hypomanic that now they have to eased a lot I don’t know how to feel anymore? What is a normal mood? and I know people can’t be euphorically happy every day as it’s not possible but I’m worried I’m not me anymore.
Lamotrigine was a miracle drug for me for many years. Unfortunately I started to develop psychosis and had to switch to Abilify. I did notice that my mood swings were minimal while on Lamotrigine, though I did still FEEL emotions, if that makes any sense.
This is good to know. Been on Lamotrigine for about 5 months now and still tweaking to get things right. Weaned off Zoloft and added Seroquel. Getting there but not yet. I'm still all over the place. It’s a process.
I started Lamotragine back in January of 2020. It is seriously the best mood stabilizer I've been on. I was on Latuda before that and I was so depressed and gained so much weight. Lamotrigine is the way to go!
Idk for some reason lamotrigine didn't really work for me. And I believe it caused anger outbursts in my case. I would randomly be extremely rude to people and it was followed by a breakdown which didn't make sense to me. I mean obviously it can't control my triggers but I felt it didn't really help me. And its withdrawal affects are the worst. I was sort of misguided about it. I was supposed to reduce the dose every week. But since I wasn't told so I stopped using it suddenly. Aaaaand I had the worst withdrawal symptoms. I was so afraid. I couldn't sleep or function properly. I thought my insomnia and anxiety are back. And it made me feel like I'll have to be on these medications my whole life to be normal. For some reason they felt like crutches.
