Flashbacks to my manic episodes
Happy Friday, and doing much better this morning.
I don't know if anyone else can relate, but during my last manic high late last spring, before being diagnosed with bipolar 2 and starting treatment, I was very flirty and sending sexual signals outside of my marriage with basically any women that would pick up the signal. I also ended up having arguments with my wife and leaving for a hotel room. I would go out and meet random women at bars and have a good time drinking and dancing and flirting. Nothing happened beyond the bar, but it was beyond anything I had done to-date in a manic high.
Fast forward to last night, I had to work late and I was tired from the day. On my way home, one of the women that I used to hang out with texted and asked what I was doing and invited me to come to a restaurant with her and her girl friends. It immediately brought back all the memories from last spring and they were troubling to relive. I guess this is a trigger.
I was able to politely decline and that felt good, but the whole episode was a little exhausting.
Thank you for listening! It feels good to write this out.

Hello,
I am glad to hear that you are feeling better this morning.
I am sorry you were triggered by those memories resurfacing.
However, I am proud that you were able to manage and decline!

Thank you. All I want to be is honest. I’m not always that way, especially with those that know me well. It’s not good, but I’m trying to relearn. This platform helps me and I’m glad it helps you :)
@innateJoy9602 - Thank you! I have such an issue with self-image that I cannot stand if anyone is unpleased with me. This leads me into controlling relationships and people pleasing and lying to those I love. I heard on Glennon Doyle's podcast that this is because I fear anything that will cause disintegration in my relationships.
