I feel like 2 different people

I have bipolar disorder and just when I feel like I'm feeling good/better, I feel like shit and don't know who I am with these mood swings/depression and sometimes manic states of mind. I'm on medication, but I don't think it's working. I'm supposed to see my Dr on the 29th, maybe I need different medication. Idk. I just really need a friend or someone who gets it and understands me. My wife doesn't, none of my family/friends do even though they say they do. it's just be a grown up do what you have to do get over it, again that's coming from people that just don't understand the disorder. I just don't know what to do anymore. I try my best to put on a smile and brave face for my son because he's my world and I don't want him to see me this way, but it's getting harder to do.

anyone else feel this way or have a similar situation? Help?

@Garysrq is there a way we could chat like a 1 on 1 or does it have to be through these threads? I'm still learning how to use this app

I'm actually waiting on the place my Dr is at to find me a therapist, they do it all there, but moved locations and redid everything. Idk maybe I just need a different medication or different dosage, but what I'm on now just isn't cutting it. I have 1 friend since high school that actually understands what I'm going through. And he boosts me up, but everyone has lives and I can't keep calling or messaging him 24/7. Ya know. It just sucks when it's not your immediate family that claims to understand, but really doesn't. 😕

@hubs1386

Hi again.

I like it so much that the member above, GarysrQ, understands you. Maybe you 2 can write a bit together.

I totally get it. The mood swings can be really rough. Also, it does feel like no one gets it. I know my family tries, but at the same time it's like they pretend nothing is wrong because they don't know how to help. Putting on a brave face really takes a lot out of you. I do that at work everyday.

Right now you should definitely talk to your doctor about your meds. Unfortunately finding the right meds and right dosage can take awhile.

I really do hope you can find the right meds and that you can get a therapist soon.

Yeah my family is just like take take take your meds, not even wondering why I even need them in the 1st place. I come from a very broken home and since I was 10 years old I was never the same. I just hate the whole finding the right meds and it taking time, I feel like a lab rat, plus I had a problem with pills/alcohol and drugs when I was younger. anything I could get my hands I I'd take it. Now besides the medication I'm on, I'm 100% sober. I called the place yesterday and they are still looking for a therapist for me. It's a small place so it will take time.

Thank you @BipolarBumbleBee

Awesome hubs - 100% sober!

Hope you get the therapist for you soon. And - here at 7Cup - you can only talk 1:1 to listeners.

I understand. I don't have bipolar but I have borderline personality disorder which has similar ups and downs but they happen faster. I also feel like two different people sometimes. And I have children. So pretending to be ok when I'm not can definitely be exhausting.
