Readers,

Many of us experience paranoia within the confinements of Bipolar Disorder. What is paranoia like for you? What do you get stuck thinking about? How do you manage this?

@blitheSun94

I am paranoid about what people think of me. I am convinced that people are out to get me and take advantage of me. I am so sure that everyone hates me and lies to my face, then precedes to talk behind my back. I don't trust anyone, even my wife to some extant.

This might sound ridiculous but I'm paranoid about thinking certain thoughts - like they might come true if I even show a hint of thinking about it. Thing's like not having a place to live, loved ones dying, etc.

I think I'm also always worried about medications not working, and have thought that my psychiatrist has prescribed me sugar pills and I'm part of this secret study.

So frustrating and stupid but I can't stop thinking these things. It's almost become obsessive and my brain is on a loop.

@Roscoe55

This sounds very relatable. Being able to detect and dismiss distorted thoughts takes practice.

Main paranoid theme has been about my phone being hacked and the government being after me so I switched phones during my last two major episodes and for awhile thought I needed to report to the national security that my sim card was possibly hacked by North Koreans.
