Readers,

Many of us experience paranoia within the confinements of Bipolar Disorder. What is paranoia like for you? What do you get stuck thinking about? How do you manage this?

**Please, indicate trigger warning if necessary

I get stuck thinking about how I could have made other desisons in the past. I get paranoid no one likes me and I'm not good enough. Fear of abandonment. I ask questions to my significant other and he assures me he won't leave so I am more relaxed now. Though my past still upsets me.

@Compassion21

All of this is the same I deal with with the exception of a partner telling me they won't leave me. I don't have anyone anymore and its driving me crazy. I had the worst attachment issues towards them too and now they are just gone.

That's the hard thing, I think our great atchement is what scars people off. People want a challege, they want what they can't have, and can't appreciate what is given to them, we are viewed as just needy rather than loyal and giving. Please come here often, people will show support and appreciation. I'm sorry your alone right now. I belive one day you will find someone who appreciates how much you care for others, this is my hope for you.

Thank you for sharing! Feeling alone or isolating is certainly a common challenge. Lord knows I saw this behavior in my father and swore I would never let that happen to me. And yet- here I am! A 27 year old lone wolf. Of course there are pros and cons to this lifestyle choice.

In terms of paranoia I often experience flashes in my peripheral vision, fear of being attacked or assaulted coupled with the ill intentions of others, and in worse case scenarios- hallucinations (auditory and visual) and paralyzing panic attacks...all over a false perception! This makes me feel especially insane.

@blitheSun94

this happens to me as well

Happy you shared this. Ive been increasing in thought delisuion/hallucinations/paranoia for the past couple of months. Schizophrenia runs in my family, and I immediately assumed the worst. I wouldnt even start to think bipolar, but can bridge the connection because of psychosis through borderline in the past. Do you have borderline too? @blitheSun94

A lot of the time i'm worried that everyone around me (in public) is looking at me or talking about me.

I worry that my friends don't actually like me.

I think people are following me sometimes.

I get very paranoid about being injured and avoid doing things or going out.

I haven't been officially diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, but I am always paranoid and doesn't really stop. Whether it's about friends talking about me behind my back or somebody else being in the house when I'm home alone. I know the latter is unreasonable, but I over think and analyze everything, which I think contributes to my paranoia. Does anybody have any ideas to calm me down?

Thanks

This can be an challenge, but seems to be the only thing that sticks. When youre outside of the paranoiac state, reevaluate these thoughts, feelings, and situations from an objective and rationalistic perspective. Remove all associated emotion, past based associations, and skewed interpretations. Almost observe yourself from an scientific perspective. Inquiry yourself. Ask yourself, if i was trying to prove this an scientific and rational based theory, what evidence do I have to back it? Continue to avoid your own emotional output. This might help check yourself back into reality. Realize you arent the worst person in the world, you arent flawed by your idiosyncrasies and mental tribulations, you are strong and you are coping. Best of luck. @sierramason25

I start to see things out of the corner of my eyes, constantly feeling like I am not alone and that I am being followed but I know that Im alone. Its gets as bad as me turning to see who is there, and often actually seeing a figure there. (My friend has caught me looking for someone and asked me what the hell I was doing.)

And of course my insecurities kick into overdrive and I suddenly feel like everyone is judging me, even though I know they arent.

Been in horrible crippling depression for the passed 3 days, so bad that I didnt even eat but a bite here and there. Just stayed in bed, unable to do anything for myself or my children. Not answering phone calls or text, sleeping 18+ hrs a day, not able to comfort my crying babies or even change a diaper or bathe them or feed them. Suicidal thoughts like always came and pledged my mind... Feeling horribly worthless and a burden to my children and family..

Thank Goodness for my two older girls who jump in and do all they can when Im this way.

And I had a horrible anxiety attack 3 days ago as well as hallucinations of the same ol ones like before of someone trying to break in my home to kill me and my children. Hearing and seeing shadows and hearing there voices. I just seen my psychiatrist on Monday and scheduled to see him again later this week. He adjusted my meds and sent me home then its when it started happening. I suffer from bipolar 1 disorder with rapid cycling and psychotic features anxiety induced..

Well anyway, today I feel the dark cloud starting to disappear and my energy starting to come back. I took a shower today, and Im starting to laugh and play with my children. And be a mom again. The person that I thought was lost forever is starting to appear, the demons are loosening their grip on me and Im making my way to the light again... Heres to another day of surviving this dreaded debilitating illness 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

I can relate to all of this. My paranoia usually comes in the form of rumination or worry of past social interactions, what others must think of me, what I said or didn't say, etc.

Stay strong everyone. What kinds of things do you do to cope with and halt paranoia?

im paranoid about almost everything you could be paranoid about. every time i get in a car i think were going to crash. when a friend says something in a slightly off manner, even if it meant nothing, i think it has to do with something ive done. im paranoid about being alone anywhere, in a store, at a gas station and even at home. i cant bring myself to even try to learn how to drive because of it.

Could be a trigger warning bc I mention delusions and anxiety!

I experience paranoia and delusions with bipolar that could be classified as psychosis but my therapist says psychosis falls into bipolar! Psychosis is delusions and hallucinations where one may think theyre being watched, experimented on, dont feel real, lose a sense of reality, feeling like they have special abilities, or strange beliefs others dont believe in.

Lately others have been judging me about my delusions so Id like to be honest about them here. I am paranoid about the zombie apocalypse. This may seem silly to most people and some label it crazy, but I genuinely believe in this, and it has me very paranoid where I sit in bed with violent panic attacks and hyperventilation. I have a backpack and closet prepped for it, which people make fun of me for. :( I also dont feel real, which adds to my paranoia. I feel like an experiment and Im trapped here! My delusions make me feel abnormal and stupid. It feels good to vent. Thank you for adding this thread 💘
