Bipolar advantage

Hi fellow Polars!!

I wanted to share my experience with bipolar for almost 15 years now and how I have been able to deal with it.

I feel that bipolar disorder gives you an advantage when you are in the manic stage - if along you know how to harness your energy to do the right things.

During your lows your body just needs a break so that you can bounce back up! Don’t overanalyse anything during this phase. It’s just a phase and it will pass. You need to just hang in there with it.

let’s share how we have used some of our symptoms to our advantage!

Thanks @Amanda84 for the kind words!

I believe stories are the best way to connect with others. And there’s nothing more impactful than a personal story!

It’s usually a high point for me when I help people move. I probably seem to have boundless energy if they’re not around for the depression pole. One couple was so grateful they gave me a car for helping. It was a major move though. Think 18-wheeler sized. Big rest up after that 😂

Couldn’t agree more @csoldiersmarch!

I strongly believe that the high you get by connecting and helping people is in a totally different league!!

Hope more people realise this and start their journeys!

@courageousPup5706 It's crazy you mention this because I've felt the same way for years now. Once wrote 300+ pages in a single manic episode. I think the real reason everyone shuns mania is because of how it affects the people around you. If you have enough self-awareness to realize you're experiencing one of these episodes, it tends to make it significantly easier to manage (from my experience).

Hi @JustSomeGuy27

Yeah I have written several songs and couple of episodes screenplay when I was manic. Again it is very difficult to control yourselves or differentiate reality and fiction.

With medication and right balance you can take advantage of your mania and not let yourself burn out. The key to know when you have to stop and sleep. Cause 7-8 hrs sleep is crucial to continue on else you will crash and burn!!
