Exhausted vent

I’m constantly exhausted and crashing, I’ve been basically falling apart and passing out as soon as I get home from work lately. I struggle to sleep at night and when I do it’s just awful nightmares and waking up with panic attacks. Usually when I wake up from a nap or first thing in the morning I wake up to hallucinations that sounds like I have a horror movie on full blast in my ears. That mixed with the intense panic attacks is usually how I start my day before going to work. I work in mental health, and I’ve been told I’m pretty good at what I do and I’ve and made a significant positive impact on people’s lives so there’s that. The constant anxiety and relentless panic attacks mixed with schizoaffective disorder means that hallucinations are usually pretty bad. I’m just trying to get through each day but I’m burnt out and I just started a new job at 40hrs a week so I don’t want to take any days off, but I’m in a pretty dark place and don’t know what to do. My wife has been so supportive but I think they’re burnt out and done with my mental health struggles, they’ve pretty much told me that bluntly. They still try their best to be there for me but I understand they’re burnt out, my mental health has been garbage for as long as I can remember, and there’s nobody else I can talk to about it, not that it would make much of a difference at this point. I’m hoping this thread will help a bit but it’s mostly a Hail Mary if I’m being honest.

Hi TransRabbit,

Your situation sounds really difficult. It's good of you for keeping trying and making a positive impact on the people in the mental health community. We need more people like you! :)

Please know that schizoaffective disorder is a horrendous illness (I have the same) and what you are doing on it is extremely rare - to be able to work 40hrs and make a positive impact.

Have you spoken to your doctor about the hallucinations in the morning? Did they say anything, if you did speak?

Good luck Rabbit! I'm rooting for you! :)

I am trying to figure out health insurance so I don’t currently have a doctor. I used to see a doctor and therapist and psychiatrist a few years ago but between having a really bad psychiatrist and my therapist telling me to get a different therapist with better availability and my doctor just generally being freaked out and trying their best to help with my issues I ended up cutting out all of them cold turkey shortly before my insurance at the time stopped and I’ve been scrambling to figure out insurance between jobs since then. I had my last job for a year and just started a new one because the last job was insanely toxic but I’m hoping to get insurance and doctors figured out soon. Hopefully.

@TransRabbit I am sorry to hear this. I truly am. I hope things improve some for you. Hopefully, in time you will get some time off. In the mean time, I hope you do what you can to look after yourself.
