Has anyone else found certain grounding techniques that help them while in psychosis?

For me some things that help are:

*Having a supportive person around and explaining to them how they can recognize and support you through periods of psychosis

*Asking myself questions like the what's time and place of where i'm at what's my name how old I am etc.

*Engaging in something simple like a game of tic tac toe

*listening to peaceful music

*having something soft to hold like a fuzzy teddy

@Strawberrypossum123

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experiences with grounding techniques during periods of psychosis. Here are some additional grounding techniques that people have found beneficial:

Deep Breathing: Focusing on your breath and taking slow, deep breaths can help you regain a sense of calm and connect with the present moment.

Mindfulness Exercises: Engaging in mindfulness activities such as meditation or body scans can assist in redirecting your attention away from distressing thoughts and into the present.

  1. Sensory Distractions: Engaging your senses can help ground you in reality. You could try touching various textures, smelling pleasant scents, or sipping a warm cup of tea.

  2. Visual Anchors: Placing pictures or objects that have positive and calming associations in your environment can serve as visual reminders to stay grounded.
