Intrusive thoughts? (TRIGGERWARNING 18+)
So I have these thoughts. And images in my mind too. It doesn't feel like my thought either, but they kinda flood my mind with sexual thoughts about and images of things I don't find attractive or hot. Actually I'm very repulsed by these thoughts and images. I do NOT want anything to do with those thoughts and images, and I don't in any way wants to try what the thoughts and so on suggests.
I know it's kinda taboo, but some of those images and thoughts are about sex with family members. Or family members trying to hurt me. Again I do not like those thoughts at all, and I can stop them from coming. Same with the disturbing images :S
What can I do? I clearly can't talk to my therapist about this, bc it's so shameful and down right disgusting.

Good afternoon, Hatter,
I have bipolar disorder and experience intrusive thoughts myself. I think it's important to be able to detect and dismiss distorted thinking. I think it's also important to remember that you are not your thoughts. Have you tried any mindful exercises? Also, distraction is a completely valid coping mechanism. I hope you feel better today. <3
I have had the same thoughts and images.
Everytime such thought come up I changed my thinking into something good or likable.
Don't try to suppress it it only makes it worse.
My biggest problem was that everytime i saw a black person the intrusive thoughts says the N- Word so after a long time, of excusing myself and explaining that I don't know what's going on and that it isn't me who said that, i starteded to say everytime Queen/ King and Princesses/ Prince. I still do that today. When u fixed the bad on some good things to see or say then it's not gonna be a burden if it doesn't go away
It's ok to have these thoughts it sounds as if you don't want to act on them. I was worried abt mentioning it to someone for years - but best thing I ever did! :)
@TheMadHatterWasHere Hi Hatter, I have intrusive thoughts too. Try not to let the fact that they are there make you feel bad. You know yourself better than anyone, so give yourself a break. It can be hard, but once you find the right counselor, get to know them and trust them, you can talk about these things with them, one that specializes schizophrenia can give you strategies to help, you are not the first to have these thoughts and you wont be the last. Hang in there.
Hey, I’ve had similar thoughts and they are super disturbing. Just know that this is not your fault and you are not alone
I think it's best that you do talk about it to a therapist!

Im hearing you are having a difficult time dealing with intrusive thoughts, especially around sexual acts with family members. That can be very disturbing to say the least so I'm glad you reached out. If you haven't yet I would reach out to a medical professional or a therapist/psychiatrist and let them know what is going on. I would also find something to do or someone to talk to in a way to distract or redirect your thoughts when this happens. I know its hard to talk about but sometimes just talking about it helps. Intrusive thoughts are hard to deal with for anyone, so you're not alone. I'm always here to talk if you need to! I am on MST time zone though
I can relate...
