Help me please...
I've been having these beliefs that someone (a person that I know) is "inserting thoughts," "mind-controlling," and "mind-reading" me.
I looked these 3 things up and the Internet says they're all delusions. But, I really do believe these things are happening to me.
I've never had a peaceful state of mind ever since this started. I always feel embarrassed whenever I think of something private and personal. I don't feel safe inside my mind anymore because someone else (that particular person) has access to it.
This person controls my thought activity by inserting thoughts and manipulating them, and of course they can see everything that goes on inside my brain.
My 19th birthday is coming soon, and I still want to get my mind back more than anything. But, because these things are happening to me, death is the only solution. I have no say in the matter. I can't even read or control the mind of the person who is reading and and controlling mine. I know it's not fair, but I feel like I deserve it for all the bad things I've done so far in life.
I wish these things aren't happening to me. I envy the people around me. They all feel safe inside their minds. It's theirs and theirs alone. Why can't it be the same for me? Please, I don't want this.
Weiss, are you at all able to get counseling? Or speak to your doctor about this? What you’re describing sounds like delusion alright, and it can’t happen in real life. Just like how elephants can’t fly. But of course your mind currently has you convinced otherwise. You need to speak to a trusted adult (I don’t know how old you are but guessing you’re a minor). Please do so as soon as you can. All the best to you.
Oops nvm you said you’re 18. So yea, please speak to an adult you trust.
I was chatting with a listener on here, and I asked if my beliefs (thought insertion, mind-control, and mind-reading) are possible. He said they're all possible and that it's only temporary.
Should I believe him? Is he telling the truth? He's scaring me!
@Weiss4957438 no, the listener wasn't telling the truth and you shouldn't believe him. I think that the listener was saying (or, should have been saying) that your feelings about this can happen and that it's only temporary, meaning that this feeling that you're being mind controlled will not last forever because it's not actually happening, it just feels like it is. Mind control, inserting thoughts, and mind reading are not real. They 100% do not happen, and anyone who says it is real is either lying on purpose (usually for money or attention) or they are going through delusions like you may be.
I would very much recommend going to see a professional, you're at the exact age where schizophrenia typically develops. It may not be schizophrenia and there could be many other causes (but certainly not actual mind control), but it's clearly impacting your life a lot and so finding out the cause and how you can combat it are very important right now, especially since you're feeling like stopping living is the only way to escape. That is not the only option and in fact should not be an option you consider at all.
So, to reiterate, you are not being mind controlled, no one can access your thoughts, no one can implant thoughts in your head. It is not possible at all, no matter how much it feels like it is. Your mind is a safe space that no one can ever access.
On a lighter note, maybe it would be comforting to watch "psychic fail" videos to see that there has not ever been a real psychic, you could also look up "James Randi" who spent his life investigating paranormal claims and never came across one true case. There's a reason no one was ever able to claim his $1 million prize for showing psychic abilities, because they simply don't exist :)
@Weiss4957438
I have had that happen to me too.
i use to think people were mind reading me too :)
I ended up with schizophrenia, but you might end up with just psychotic depression or something
