How do you know if you have a serious mental illness like schizophrenia or bpd?
I hear and see things that aren't there all the time. I used to chat with some people they were in my head even though they assholes, except for Ray of course. And I believe some things that I probably shouldn't, like I had a whole meltdown and stayed up all night because I thought the posters on my wall were staring at me and planning on killing me which leads back to something else that happened and I put two and two together and got even more scared. So like I was just wondering what it's all about?
@LargeFishstick Only a psychiatrist can tell you whether you have schizophrenia, BPD or some other serious illness. But working out what it's all about is more usually the job of a therapist.
Hearing and seeing things that aren't there could be a sign of schizophrenia, or it could be something else entirely. That's why it's important to have a psychiatrist's opinion about it. You cannot rely on any website or anyone on the Internet to diagnose serious illness.
How to see a psychiatrist depends on your circumstances. Sometimes you can just book an appointment directly, and sometimes you have to see your normal doctor (GP) first to get a referral.
