Ideal career
I would like to know how you choose the career of your life. And how you descovered it? Because I find myself lost in career quizzes with no escape and after every quiz I have more questions then before.
@bubbleDime484
Many people I know have found a career or field maybe by accident.... or circumstance.. Many people are not in a field they went to school for or were thinking of while in school... sometimes it takes time to find what works best for you.
Aptitude tests and interests change............ and many jobs are not at all like a job description or school thinks they are. sometimes it takes trying things out to see if you can see yourself doing that long term.
You can try exploring from your passion / interest / hobbies. or try doing MBTI test..
@bubbleDime484 I see your situations. Was in the same place some years ago. The more you are doing these tests, the more you feel confuses. Actually, all the tests are created for the "average" results and of course they help with directions but after all we are the only experts of our life. And only we can feel what is better for us. So, sometimes mindfulness can help to take away all noisy thoughts and just concentrate on your own feelings and thoughts. Here, on this site there are a lot of materials on mindfulness. Good luck with your career journey. It can be really exciting! :)
It’s hard to really decide what your meant to do. I will say, *** reeks about the day in the life of certain occupations helped me a lot. I feel it’s more personal than a career test. But I think you’ll come across something someday and just know this is the thing you are meant to do. It might take long but it’ll happen, you just have to keep looking!
There is aptitude testing, it tests every part of your brain not just personality and it will tell you what you are great at.
I myself have been looking for a job now for for 5+ months it's very difficult right now.
#1 Prioritise mental health we don’t wanna have a job that’s to make us depress. Repeat we don’t want that. Future me is going to be happy.
1.2 Something that is going to make you comfortable. Why would you work as surgeon if you hate blood? We don’t wanna be miserable, right? We only live once we might as well be comfortable ?
#2 think about what are you will to get good at, skills interest and what you will tolerate
2.1 You might like something but you might struggle at it. It’s better to go work and know what you doing than to be lost and struggle. I would rather be an excellent chef and be praised at work than be a lost electrician. There’s high changes of getting fired. I would rather be great at whatever, if all you have is LESS than bare minimum, don’t do it.
2.2 Skills, practice skills from 1-3months. Search in the internet: personal and job skills.
2.2.1 You can practice job skills, the most common ones. Practice them DAILY even if it’s 5 minutes. Example, communication skills: search for random topic generator and in YouTube tvsearch for: Virual reality public speaking practise stage. Then just start speaking verbally and non verbally
2.2.2 After 1-3 months REFLECT/JOURNAL:
a) What skill did I like the most? What did I like less? Then that’s it. You don’t like to speak in public, then why would you be a teacher?? You like problem solving? Be a research scientist: Please go and research HIV and solve this world problem
b) You realise you have a bad memory? well… you want your doctor to have great memory right? then maybe doctor is not for you
c) Just think: ‘I would like X profession to be like this’ if you can’t be the person you would want then it’s not for you
d)You like organizating? then search jobs that are aligns with the SKILLS I like? be an Assistant? Health administrative?
e) Just think: I would like my assistant to be great at organising. I can be that person? Yes. It might be for me
Practice other skills, confidence, listening (therapist) , tema work, languages, etc. Be consistent just like a carrer or job. Not everything is when you want to.
Please I recommend you to do this. It’s free plus it’s good for yourself to learn stuff. Did I mention that it’s FREE. You can 10 minutes to practice problem solving, pretended that be an entrepreneur, for 30 days, then I realised that if you like it or not.
Also think about your interest, dance, music, series, social media, sports, languages…..
What are you willing to tolerate? can you be in a room where kids disrespected me (teaching)
#3 MONEY
3.1 WE DONT WANT FINANCIAL ANXIETY. Is this job going to give all basic necessities? Or will it put me homeless?
3.2 Is this career demanding, now, and in 10 years? Or will it make me jobless? Will I struggle to get a job
3.3 Will Ai take over. Don’t be a translator because Ai is taking over and people are getting fired
summary: think of your mental health, thinks your are willing to get good at (skills), what you like and what can you tolerate (comfortable or not) , and money
I feel so sorry for you , because i relate to you, i actually I'm in a similar situation, and i just can't get out of it , i can't find a career, nor do i have the capacities to pursue the careers i want , hopefully you had already discovered your career ❤️
