I've been unemployed for about a year. Im 36 and I haven't had a career or ambition. Ive worked for most of my life while studying and now I'm just tired and unable to make any choices to working or studying. I'm just floating here. Both my parents are no more and I always thought I would be able to.make them proud of me. I'm not one to boast about myself. I've never wanted to be famous but I do want to.mke a difference. I have always found volunteering rewarding and comforting. I'm working on this part of me to help my self esteem and confidence. I'm finding the point of any job just exhausting and not interesting from a passionate perspective. I want to give myself to a cause but I'm in doubt of myself and capabilities. I don't want be rich but Im just looking for peace and calm.

Hi, I get what you're feeling. I've been floating along too. I was teaching and then I thought I'd do something else and I don't know if that's working out.

I will be unemployed from November onwards and honestly have no idea what to do. You're not alone.

Your volunteering sounds great 👍🏻 and definitely worthwhile. If that's something you enjoy could you make it into a career option maybe 🤷🏼‍♀️

Don't worry about making others proud. Do something that makes you proud of you.

Good luck 🤞🏻

Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community. That's a good place to start. Build on your self-esteem and confidence through that first. Then, you can look for ways to turn that into a career. Whether that means it'll require more studying or upgrading some technical/practical skills.

I personally think that it's important that we don't lose hope on ourselves. That we need to keep dreaming or have goals in life. Something that keeps us motivated to move forward in our journey. Accept that there are times when we seem to be stuck, but keep working on breaking down barriers to find different routes to work around obstacles. It's important that we keep moving, then, things will fall into place.

Not many people are able to be in a career that they have passion for. As one of those lucky people, it only happened after a life-changing event that occurred last year, and made me rethink about my life, my career. When I finally decided to leave the workplace earlier this year, a place where I had been working the past 7 years. I went to a different facility, away from home (an hour drive away), was recognized by the Management Team for my skills and passion, and was offered an additional position to my work. Which fulfills another dream career I had been thinking about for the past couple of years. By the way, I'll be turning 39 next year. It's never too late to make changes in our lives, career-wise.

So, work on yourself first. Regain that confidence, then, go from there.
