Hi. It would be highly appreciated if someone could give me some valuable advice or takes on my situation. I have been working in the HR industry. I’ve been with 3 employers for the last 4 years. My longest stay was for 7 months. I resigned from my recent employer because the manager assessed my performance based on extraneous tasks that were not included on my job description. I felt that no matter how hard I tried, I wouldn’t last because my previous manager always expected that I would work extra hard on my extraneous tasks. Because of that, I had a more difficult time in doing my main tasks. Is this complaining? Am I just not compatible with my previous employers? Am I not job-fit or company-fit enough? I just want a stable job (even if it’s not HR).
I actually am debating whether I give up applying as HR Assistant and go to a different field. Do you have any suggestions for job positions that are related to psychology (but not HR, IT, and math-related)? Thank you for your time.

It seems odd in the HR field you did not expect there will always be tasks or things that were NOT added in the job description It will happen if you go in another field as well. Every job i ever had always had other things depending on what was going on.
Were these tasks basically your supervisors and passed off to you? Did you have any real communication that if you focused on these extra tasks, the main ones would suffer? Or ask for help to prioritize how company/ manager wanted ? These are the sort of things any employee would discuss perhaps with HR if they felt overwhelmed or assessed unfairly. Sounds like a real disconnect that you felt the best thing to do is quit.
I have worked for a company before that in assessments managers were forced to bring up ANY item to work on or sort of negative. One year a manager suggested I ironed my shirts better....lol
Petty and BS, sure but i was mature enough to ask like what the heck? Then they told me "if they did not have some item on assessment it would be a negative on them" ...
You will not find or stay somewhere if you cannot take criticism of job performance, regardless of field choice.
Maybe you need to assess yourself, what could have been done differently in any of the last jobs that would have improved the situation?
What is your approach in future if you encounter similar events?
