Student life pressure without parents support

Hey I'm arpita from India. I am here to share my feelings. Please suggest me. I'm losing my mind.

I'm not much good in studies just like an average student not topper not backbencher. I'm currently struggling with my percentage it's not good enough. I'm very weak in maths especially. But I'm trying my best to perform good in maths too. I'm suffering from depression and hallucinations. I took my medicines on time but it seems like they're not doing anything. I keep hallucinating evey day.

I'm trying hard to improve myself in studies. My parents aren't supporting me. They just keep scolding and hitting me. But I take all their hits silently. They never let me stand for myself. I'm so tensed I keep overthinking at night. I only sleep for 2 or 3 hours in a day. My mother demotivates me sometimes that you can't do anything in future. You'll ruin our reputation in society.

I'm sorry you are struggling.

And sad .

And not getting support.

All you can truly do is your best.

You are bringing shame on anyone.

And no one has the right to hit you or verbally insult you, not even your parents.

My heart goes out to you ๐Ÿ’œ ๐Ÿ’•ย

@arpiiitaaa i empathize you, but yk what there's always right people who would come to you and make you feel valued and I'm doing that too! I hope you feel seen like you are not alone, alot of us go through this family things but when we still work hard in pressure and find happiness then we become independent. Sorry if i don't give well advice. I didn't get compliments from my family well so I'm trying to be better at speaking like giving someone support, i wish you best, we can talk later if you want ๐Ÿ˜Š

Well here is solution.

First u are weak in math becoz u are not giving time and u overthinking too much, u are over analysis things well its natural special in case of. Survive right now ur brain feels same level of tension and one suggestion u don't need. Some medication u really need meditation and some good friends or may be one good friend whom u can express urself. Now

Next problem u overthinking too much it's becoz what u can do and what u are doing there is gaps between them and also u have to make sure u do some exercise . If u give me some more details then may be I will guide u.

Hello Arpita,

It's almost always difficult to go through depression without our family's support. Many cultures, especially in our parents' generation, they often are not educated in Mental Health, and end up ignoring or denying the problem. I was never good with math myself, to this day, I'd say I'm still not that good with it. But all I could do back then, was do more practice exercises.. going online, finding more questions to work on. Sometimes the textbook doesn't give enough practice questions, so I look for other resources to get more practice.. I find, with Math, unfortunately, it's a lot of memorization of formulas/rules, and then, only repeatedly doing the questions seems to be the only way to get your brain to remember how to do them.

By any chance, does your school have counsellors? Sometimes, just having someone there to listen to you is a form of support too. Any good friends that you can share your concerns with? Of course, you can always come here to Cups to get support, it may not be as helpful as someone who can be physically beside you, but knowing that many others struggle with similar problems is also another form of assurance.

I think that many of us go through the same phase though, having our parents telling us that we're making bad choices, or that our future looks gloomy because our academics is not good enough. Are you in high school or College?

I don't have anyone who can listen all my problems.

Every one in the school thinks that I'm rude. That's why they don't talk to me.

Unfortunately, there are many people around us who are too self-centred and do not know to empathize with their peers. Many who do not know what mental health is, they often use other ways to approach it. In your case, they might see you as being rude, but do know that they are not directing that to you. It's just their way of dealing with something they are unfamiliar with.ย

I was once very lost with my academics too, and I wasn't the typical "smart" with my studies, especially with Maths and Sciences, unlike those of the same nationality, who excel in those subjects. I ended up dropping out of University, and just went to College and completed a Certificate. With that Certificate, I now am working in a career I have passion for. So, University and College is not for everyone. Please don't let your parents pressure you to think that is the only way to go.ย

If you get the chance, maybe you can start thinking what kind of career you'd like to be doing in the future. Then, you can do some research to see what kind of education is needed. Does it really require a Bachelor's Degree, or would something more practical, like a Certificate or Diploma would be enough. Use this as a form of motivation with your current situation regarding your academics.ย

Told u meditation that fit for u and if in ur case u r hallucinating then u have to its again make ur time waste so my suggestion look into things and start study carefully. Care fully means listen and make sure everything get understood that make ur hard in starting but with 4-5 months everything will be fine.
