Work Prompt #20: What is teamwork for you?
Welcome back all, I hope you are all taking it easy on yourself at work this week.
A few weeks ago we discussed: What is one question that might be bothering you? Thank you to all who participated and shared their thoughts for discussion. I enjoyed them. I hope you all did too. If you didn't share yours, please share them here and I look forward to reading and discussing them with you.
This week's prompt: What is teamwork for you? What role does teamwork play in your workplace?
This discussion is focused on what is teamwork and how it works out for you. The goal is to discuss and share our thoughts, views, and how we want the teamwork to be. Let's share to discuss
I look forward to hearing and discussing with you all.

Great prompt, Obs!✨for me teamwork is all about collaborating effectively to reach shared goals. Its not just about working together, but really working well together. i mean valuing each others strengths, communitacing openly and being willing to support each other through challenges. Good teamwork combines individual skills to create something greater than what we could achieve alone and effective communication is key to making that happen
im also really curious to hear what others think about this and how they experience teamwork. It'll be interesting to see the different perspectives and insights!
@healingsoul4892 I think that's a great way to put it, Healing. Thank you for adding your thoughts. What do you think makes good communication in a team?
@ASilentObserver
Thanks Obs😊
i think good communication in a team comes down to creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable speaking up and asking questions, no matter how "silly" they might think their questions are. We all learn by getting answers, right? Being open to asking for help is also crucial, its definitely not a sign of weakness but rather a way to strengthen teamwork. clear expression and active listening go hand in hand, its about understanding each other and being genuinely present in conversations. What do you think? I'd love to hear what you think is the key to good communication
@ASilentObserver teamwork, for me, is all about collaboration, trust, and communication. It’s knowing that we’re working toward a shared goal and that we can rely on each other’s strengths to get there. In my workplace, teamwork plays a huge role whether it’s problem-solving, brainstorming ideas, or simply supporting one another during stressful times. When teamwork is strong, work feels smoother, and even challenges become easier to handle. That being said, I think good teamwork requires open communication and mutual respect.
@ASilentObserver
teamwork is making sure every member:
- feels comfortable
- understands what's going on
- feels heard
Teamwork to me is recognizing everyone as multifaceted human beings, not purely as entities made to produce work. Being able to tap into this side of your coworkers creates better rapport, relationships, and ultimately better work output. Teamwork is combining the strengths of many people to create a product together that you wouldn't have been able to individually. Therefore, seeing your coworkers compassionately and fully is essential- to see their strengths and play to them. This human-centered definition of teamwork appeals to me as it dosen't focus solely on output, ignoring the rich individual lives of employees in a workplace.
@ASilentObserver for me teamwork is all about trusting and cooperating with people and building a good relationship
@ASilentObserver This is a good question, I have been pondering this myself lately because I struggle with operating on a team/running the business entity as if it's mine. So, at my current job, my boss brought up the fact that she doesn't think that I'm effective on the team because they have been complaining to her that I'm disengaged but I feel that I'm very active on the team, however, the team doesn't interact positively with me.
I say this to say that I don't want to over participate on a team/take on too many responsibilities that I can not manage due to the workload that already exists. I also don't want to feel like I'm the mule of the team and I'm running the business. I think my participation (at work) on a team is simply doing what's required of me (my job) to keep the organization moving forward. I don't go above and beyond at work because I feel I am already strained in my work duties and then when I do go above I feel that it is not respected/acknowledged. I am beginning to grow tired of being on teams and teams can be draining.
@ASilentObserver
Thanks for making this awesome post!! ☺️🙌
For me teamwork is all about collaborating effectively to reach a common goal. Whether that's working to build an app together or should responsibility together. ❤️
It's not just about working together, but really working well together through valuing each others strengths and being willing to support each other through hard challenges. This is so important and a lot of people don't realise how necessary teamwork is and honestly you encounter it everyday sometimes.❤️
@ASilentObserver, a good team is like a good family!
