Hi! ♥️
As someone who has been dabbling in foreign languages most of their life (although I’m not fluent in any other than English…for now), I can recommend some things!
- If you really want to learn the language, having a committed schedule is important. Think about how often you can set aside some time for French, and for how long. Let’s say you can do 30 minutes of French three times a week. Try your best to stick to that regularity. If you let it slide off, then what you learn will have a harder time being retained in your mind.
- Practice speaking and writing in the foreign language. Build it up little by little. I like starting with getting to know the alphabet before I move onto forming words, and then sentences.
- Consume media that is in French. Whether it’s a comic book, a song, a movie, or a TV show, it’ll help you get accustomed to how the language sounds, and with repetition, can help you catch onto phrases, slang and some words quickly!
French happens to be one of the languages I’ve been studying, so I’ll include some French music, shows and comics down below. You should be able to find them on YouTube and other search platforms fairly easily. Bonne chance! 🇫🇷
- French singers: Nolwenn Leroy, Françoise Hardy, Jean-Baptiste Maunier, Clèmence Saint-Preux and Renaud.
- French shows: Muzzy, Barbapapa, Extra French, and Dans la peau d’un chef.
- French comics: Les Aventures de Tintin and Les Aventures de Astérix et Obélix. Note that both of these comics also have been adapted into cartoons, so they can be found on YouTube as well.
