Shish Barak is simply meat-filled tortellini, or small dumpling, cooked in yogurt soup. The meat is seasoned simply with cinnamon, allspice, or 7 Spice and cooked with onion. The dough for the tortellini is so basic: flour + salt + water. No yeast. The yogurt soup or sauce is also very simple, though there are some special tips to keep in mind whenever yogurt is cooked.

🔥 Meet Larmin: The Ultimate Pashtun Soul Food 🔥
Forget everything you know about "heavy" meals. From the rugged mountains of South Waziristan comes Larmin—a legendary Mehsud delicacy that is pure, unadulterated meat heaven. 🏔️🍖
Imagine succulent chunks of mutton slow-cooked to perfection in its own golden, rendered sheep fat. No heavy masalas, no distractions—just high-quality meat, a sprinkle of salt, and hours of patient cooking until it’s so tender it practically melts off the bone. 🤤

Why it’s the GOAT (literally):
Liquid Gold: The natural juices create a rich, savory broth that’ll have you scraping the plate.
Winter Warrior: Designed by tribesmen to beat the Himalayan cold with pure energy. The Ultimate Welcome: In Waziristan, if they serve you Larmin, you aren't just a guest—you’re family.
Best enjoyed with a piece of hot, tandoori Nan and a side of fresh kahwa. This isn't just a meal; it's a rite of passage for every meat lover. 🥣🔥jan-20-2026-12-36-59-pm_1768894652.png

 🥞 Waishaly 🥞
The name is derived from the word "waish," which means "to distribute," thus serving everybody.
Golden-brown, soft, and fresh off the hot griddle.
Crisp on the edges, fluffy inside, made with fresh milk and served steaming hot, accompanied by yogurt and butter.
A true Eid favorite, meant to be torn by hand, shared with family, and enjoyed with a cup of strong Khyber black tea.

Simple. Warm. Traditional

User Profile: curiousbookishness
curiousbookishness January 27th

@SweetSoul771

Not all Pashtuns are tribal, and even the so-called tribes are no longer strictly tribal in structure or practice. Over centuries, urbanization, state administration, trade, and migration have reshaped Pashtun society. Today, these distinctions mainly help differentiate between groups that have lived in major cities for generations—often engaged in commerce, governance, and education—and those who reside in mountainous or rural regions, where kinship ties remain more visible. Both groups, however, are part of broader regional networks and maintain well-connected communities through trade routes, labor migration, modern infrastructure, and shared cultural norms such as Pashtunwali.

@curiousbookishness Dora cake and Dorayaki are basically the same thing. Dorayaki is the traditional Japanese name for a sweet, pancake-like confection consisting of two small, fluffy patties wrapped around a filling. Dora cake is a popular nickname for this treat, derived from its fame as the favorite snack of the cartoon character Doraemon 😊

 Koshari

Koshari is Egypt’s most famous national dish. It is a hearty combination of rice, pasta, lentils, and chickpeas, topped with spiced tomato sauce, garlic, and a traditional vinegar dressing. It is filling, flavorful, and a true reflection of Egyptian street food culture

Feteer Meshaltet

Feteer Meshaltet is a traditional countryside pastry made from thin layers of dough. It is baked until crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It can be served sweet or savory and is a symbol of Egyptian hospitality and generosity.

 Roqaq with Minced Meat

A classic Egyptian dish made from thin baked pastry sheets filled with seasoned minced meat, then oven-baked until golden. It is commonly served at family gatherings and special occasions. For me every time I see I think it's bakluwa 😂😅

Mahshi is a staple of Egyptian cuisine and includes grape leaves, zucchini, and cabbage stuffed with seasoned rice and herbs. It is slowly cooked to achieve a deep, authentic flavor.
