Laufabrauð (Leaf Bread)
Made of a thin, waferlike dough, this crisp flatbread is a holiday tradition in Iceland. Many families make it together a few days before Christmas; some Icelanders joke that it's the only time of year the men will help in the kitchen. It's first cut into intricate geometric patterns, then deep-fried and saved to be eaten as an accompaniment to Christmas dinner. Traditionally, a special tool called a leaf bread iron is used to cut the patterns, but we found a paring knife works just as well.

@jesusredeemedme2425 That's fascinating 😍.... Is it like a biscuit??
It says a thin, wafer-like dough :) Isn’t it pretty??? <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 Yess 😍, it would be crunchy if i am not wrong 😋. I really wants to try it atleast once ever!!💜
✨💙✨
@AnnaSilverberg I see Soft crunchy 😮 , like Puffs r8!! I got u now 😋😋
I let them know that it's not a good idea to try to taste the fermented shark.
It will taste awfully, not even Gordon Ramsay could eat it. I guess that says a lot 🤣
We do have good food though, such as hangikjöt, which is smoked lamb.
We have kleinur, which will beat donuts every day of the week!
We also have slátur which is commonly known as black pudding, even though
there is nothing pudding like about it 😂
We have flatkaka, which is really good with butter and cheese,
not to be confused with the word flatbaka which is the Icelandic word for pizza.
There is so much food to try and taste, and I can recommend most of it,
just not the weird food such as fermented shark, ram balls or sheep heads.
Iceland is weird with food in that way, I guess.
✨💙✨
@AnnaSilverberg God, Should even give it a try or not... u just gave us a warning ⚠️ lol 😅.
But anyways it looks great, Fasinating 😍 n What's Ram ball 😮??
Consider yourself very warned!
Ram balls are basically testicles of male sheep.
Iceland has very odd delicacies and I've not tried those that sound awful 🤣
✨💙✨
That’s what I assumed they were XD I wonder if they just taste like meat, or if they have an odd taste or texture? They have similar things here, but we call them Rocky Mountain oysters for some reason lol
@AnnaSliverberg Well, I'm glad you didn't girlll 😭😭
You’re from Iceland??? I had no idea <3
I would love to learn about Iceland too. I have heard it is a beautiful place and maybe I'll go there one day.
I want to know if there’s actual ice there hehe
Wow all these foods are amazing. Iceland is my dream country!
