Teens: Diversity
Hello teens! Today let's talk about diversity! Diversity is differences. We can find diversity in cultures, religion, ethnicity, languages, and many other things. We are all diverse from one another.
It can be difficult to remember, especially when it's gets treated as a a weakness, but diversity is a strength. As diverse human beings we have all gone through different experiences, and have different perspectives. As a result, people can look at a problem from many different angles and find different solutions.

1.) Why is diversity important to you?
Because the world can feel isolating enough as it is, let alone when wherever you look you can't see anyone like you. It's so important to know you're not alone, even when you feel like you are. It helps the world grow. It means that people who are the ones who don't actively have to search themselves out can see that we exist, and it helps people who do have to search for themselves to realise that "hey, I'm not the only one I'll ever see (aside from my family)"
2.) Has there ever been a time in your life when you used diversity as a strength?
To make people who were also of a diverse background to feel comfortable.
3.) What would you say to someone who may be struggling with embracing diversity?
It's okay if you're struggling, and I'm glad that you're trying to embrace diversity. It can be hard to embrace something that's so different to what you're used to. It's important though, and to help you into it, I'd suggest that you look for diversity in things that you love. Look for diversity in whatever it is that you love, it might be hard to find, but I'm sure you'll find something.
4.) What are some ways we can celebrate diversity?
Finding it in everything. Embracing it. Loving the fact that we live in a time that at least we have the internet to help us find it
@GlitteringNights
I agree with you, being diverse really is helpful in showing how you might be different, but that doesn't mean you're alone. It is great to hear that you use diversity to help others feel more comfortable with their diversity, and what you said about people looking for diversity in things they love is an incredible suggestion! 💗

I would tell them it's okay to struggle, but being diverse is not a bad thing. It may take time, but it will all be alright in the end, and that they are amazing humans.
4.) What are some ways we can celebrate diversity?
We can continue to talk about it, a lot of people ignore it because they think that it's best, but diversity is something we should discuss.

diversity is important to me because we're all diverse, and by recognizing and celebrating ourselves and the people around us, we open ourselves to new experiences and lots of wonderful, incredible things :)

all the time! diversity is always a strength, and we use it whenever we interact with others, or support people. diversity makes us all human!
3.) What would you say to someone who may be struggling with embracing diversity?
i would say that it is inevitable and that diversity isn't bad, because differences aren't bad. every individual is diverse in many ways, and by celebrating our uniqueness, we make ourselves and the rest of the world a happier, more accepting place!
4.) What are some ways we can celebrate diversity?
we can celebrate diversity in the little things. by being respectful and compassionate about people's different experiences, by celebrating people's differences, and by honoring people and treating everyone with respect, we're celebrating diversity and making strides toward a culture that honors that.
