The ability to speak many languages enables you to have a deeper connection with another culture. How many languages do you speak?

@comfortableNight4463

I speak (in order of fluency): English, Hebrew, Esperanto, Spanish, and Russian. The last two are definitely going through lots of work and practice, so stay tuned! First two are pretty much fluent, and Esperanto is good enough to be sort-of fluent.

@ShneurZ Amazing! I guess that makes you a polygot. Which is the hardest to learn?

I think I still have lots of work before I can be a real polyglot, haha. I think Russian was definitely hardest to learn! Six grammatical cases, up to eighteen different ways to say every adjective, and verb conjugations that are often not so regular are really hard! What language(s) do you speak or are learning?

@ShneurZ Oh Russian definitely sounds hard. But keep going! You got this! I know English, Sinhala, a bit of French, a bit of Arabic and I'm currently learning Georgian

Georgian seems like a challenge! I love the writing though.

I can speak English, Hindi and two of the regional languages of India: (Marathi & Konkani) and I can speak a bit of Japanese but I'm yet to acheive fluency there.

English as my first language, Finnish as my second after moving here. I don't learn languages easy, so being surrounded by it has helped learning my second one.

How do you find Thai? Is it difficult? I've heard learning the writing system can be challenging. I'm also learning Japanese and sort of Korean. Which is your favorite out of the three you are currently learning?

@Smily1225 It is super challenging. I took for six months only to learn the most basic (alphabets).

@Smily1225 How about Russian? Does it hard?

User Profile: Smily1225
Smily1225 January 27th, 2022

I think Russian was medium difficulty, almost like how German was. I didn't get very far with either language but my Russian teacher was more fun than my German teacher and j liked the class more. I definitely have enough of a foundation in both German and Russian if I ever choose to study them again.

English is my first language, and I am pretty fluent in Spanish. I am also learning Arabic, along with some Italian and Russian. I know very little of the last two especially, but I’m trying to learn! Besides Spanish, Arabic is my favorite, but it is also VERY hard compared to the others. Someday I want to be a full polyglot!
