American's are important to the Around the World Subcommunity too!
7 cups serves a multitude of countries around the world! You may be thinking "I am American, there isn't anything special about my country to participate here" but guess what? You're wrong! This community is not only for people outside the USA but for those inside as well! There are people from other parts of the world who are most definitely interested in American culture and we have this awesome sub-forum to show them about our country!
You now may be asking, "How can Americans use this sub-forum" welllll you can use this to share traditions you have, meet people from the same state as you, and so much more. Remember not everyone on here is American, so there is a spot for you to share as well! 💕

1) What state are you from?
I am from one state and I live in another state, but I don't completely identify as American as I'm a dual citizen. Does that answer? lol
2) How many states have you traveled to?
Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Lousiana, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wyoming (I had to sing the 50 nifty United States song to get through that).
3) What makes you unique?
I've lived/travelled all over the world thanks to my dad's job. If you can travel internationally do it, you get a better perspective.

@LeetheUnicorn thanks! We moved a lot and it was kind of challenging to always be starting over at new schools. But it was fun to get to experience so many different places. When people ask "where are you from?" it is never a simple answer :)
Hi Jillian! To answer your final question within #1, no it does not answer the question 
But I myself get out of answering that question in sly ways sometimes 
Also here, or maybe 'just' in my family, there is a big distinction between 1. Where are you from? and 2. Where do you live? and sometimes even 3. Where were you born or where did you grow up? I guess we get too particular about wording sometimes!
Myself? Currently I live in my hometown ... which means I live in the same city where I was born and grew up. I am also 'from' here 
Especially when I went to college in a state that is to the South of my own ... they were 'all' like, Yes, I can tell you're from the North (*I* roll eyes). They 'all' (not all, several or most maybe) thought I had an accent, being from 'the North' LOL. I was so excited? (that's not quite the right word) that I could finally prove them wrong in class my senior year. We were in a diction and pronunciation class - a higher level class for music majors. Our professor had asked us to read aloud small columns of words (in English!) within our text book. At my turn, I read all five or six words. Then it became time for the others, specifically those from Kansas (the location of our school), to read. I "loved" how the professor kept saying, no try again. No, again. Close, but no ... I wanted to LOL and be like, "See? I told you I don't have an accent!" (rolls eyes at self) I don't remember much from that class, but it was fun. [And if you ask me, the IPA is still hard! Familiar, @rosyOctopus ??

Yes I understand about the dual citizenship thing. I have it too coming from Hermosillio Mexico and in Arizona. Its always interesting to hear peoples reactions when I say im from a different country. I have been to Texas and New Mexico a few times but not for very long.

Well if we're counting states I've driven through to get to other states, almost all except Hawaii, Maine, Georgia, West Virginia, and Maryland (my family likes traveling). States I've had extended stays in (3 or more days) include Washington, Alaska, Texas, Montana, Louisiana, New York, Iowa, and Arizona
3) What makes you unique?
This isn't really unique, but I love to learn about almost everything.

Wow you've visited so many states! 😯 My family is very similar too, when I was younger my family and it went on a lot of road trips.

*I'm not sure if this is unique, exactly, but am extremely concerned, horrified, saddened, and and and worried about not just the US, but the world. I have always been extremely interested in history, I actually minoried in it, specifically the events that led to Hitler being able to seemingly come out of nowhere and suddenly have an enormous amount of power (we know how that turned out). I am not saying that the current part time occupant of the White House is Hitler, nor am I comparing their respective policies. I am pointing out that the systems that were in place in Germany that should be prevented it, well didn't. Everyone around the world was shocked by how quickly Hitler consolidated power especially as quin as he did. What I am saying is that Trump sort of has more power than any previous (at least Republican president, honesty though this can be debated until people end up with laryngitis, and they still won't agree). The refusal by some prominent people (who should and do know better) to accept and agree on a basic set of facts is a huge problem. I think the cultural exchange idea is a really good idea We know that a lot of other countries (allies and adversaries, both the various governments and citizens, are all kinds of confused (sadly I don't think we have any more insight, although we absolutely should). I just want the world to know that he lost the majority vote, he doesn't represent the majority of the country and he's destroying our standing on the world stage tweet by tweet. I just hope this idea gives the world a chance to see that he doesn't represent American ideals or values and that quite frankly, he's an embarrassment
Hi Lee, I'm glad you've put this post here. Like very much so. As my purpose in coming to "Around the World" SubC tonight was to Leave the SubC, it's very nice to know that at least one someone would like for me to stick around. So I'll stay. I'm not sure why I don't get notifications from ATW like in my Notifications 'box' - which is part of why I was going to leave. I don't ever know if anything or what is happening over here.
